⚓ THE GRIMALDI GROUP ACQUIRES A MAJORITY STAKE IN THE HERAKLION PORT AUTHORITY After a similar investment in the Port of Igoumenitsa, the Italian company continues its vertical integration strategy in Greece. ✒ The signing of the share purchase agreement officially marked the sale and transfer of a majority stake in the capital of the Heraklion Port Authority (HPA S.A.) to Holding of Heraklion Port S.A., the consortium formed by the Grimaldi Group companies Grimaldi Euromed SpA and Minoan Lines S.A. Emanuele Grimaldi pointed out: “The Grimaldi Group has an ambitious investment programme which aims at making the most of Heraklion’s strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean for the development of new trade flows for passengers and freight, ranging from cruising to the transport of new vehicles. We are fully aware of the potential of this port, as we have long been its main customer through our sister company Minoan Lines, which has its headquarters in Heraklion. We intend to facilitate the sustainable growth of the Port, both from an economic and an environmental point of view. Particularly, through investments in renewable sources of energy, we plan to make Heraklion a true green port and a landmark for the entire Mediterranean port industry. As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious international shipping event, it gathers leading and maritime professionals, companies, products and service providers including shipowners, charterers, shipbuilders, and suppliers. We learned that Greece was selected as the permanent host of this biennial event because of its ancestral history and culture in maritime world and also the home of big Shipowners (Greek-owned vessels is approximately 21pct of global population) and some of these shipping magnate even control the European league football club!. Posidonia offers a vibe of confidence over networking events, insights during conferences, one to one meetings and to reveal a humongous of business opportunities around latest industry trends and disruption, maritime technology innovation, and regulatory updates. Posidonia is highly influential in shaping the future of global maritime industry. Our CEO and delegates also attended the Indonesia-Hellenic Business Forum sponsored by Indonesia Embassy in Athens to have an open dialogue between Greece maritime industry and PIS and Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA) with regards to potential business collaboration in maritime education, technology and terminal operation, ship financing and fleet development. We at PIS are honoured to connect with other global maritime partners. As the largest tanker operator in Asia (with more than 700 fleet) and the national flag carrier shipping company of Indonesia, we understand that there are still a lot of work to be done but we are in the right direction to move forward and harvest the maximum potential for PIS in the foreseeable future. #PISenergizingtheocean
