Did you know that the way a child breathes will impact every aspect of their development, including their sleep quality, learning, behavior, jaw and facial development, speech, and future health? 🌬 Common issues children experience such as snoring, disturbed sleep, poor attention and concentration, ADHD-symptoms, difficulties with emotional regulation, recurrent ear infections, speech or feeding concerns, teeth grinding, crooked teeth, and more, can often be symptoms of a bigger, underlying problem. The best way to keep your baby safe during sleep is to follow the ABCs: Alone: Always place your baby to sleep alone. Back: Lay your baby on their back, every time they sleep. Crib: Use a crib or bassinet with a firm mattress and no extra bedding or toys. These steps help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and ensure your baby’s sleep environment is safe. Are you creating a "bad habit" with your newborn? As new parents, we're bombarded with advice on the "right" way to help our little ones sleep. But here's the truth from our sleep educator, Emily Varon, Ready Set Sleep who wisely reminds us that in the 4th trimester, there's no such thing as "bad habits"! So, relax and remember: 1️⃣ Feeding to sleep is OK: Nursing or bottle feeding your baby to sleep provides comfort and closeness, fostering a strong bond between parent and child. It's not a "bad habit". 2️⃣ Contact napping is OK: Snuggling up with your baby for naps isn't spoiling them—it's meeting their need for warmth, security, and connection. It's not a "bad habit". 3️⃣ Rocking to sleep is OK: Whether it's in your arms or a rocking chair or with a smart crib, gently soothing your baby to sleep is a natural way to ease them into slumber. It's not a "bad habit".
