Fun facts about yachts ⛵ The term "yacht" traces its roots back to the Dutch word "jacht", which means "hunt". Originally, yachts served as fast-paced sailing ships deployed by the Dutch Navy to chase down pirates and other criminals. In the photo below you can see an 18th-century Dutch jacht! #yachts #yachting

Happy to share my first article in 2024! Here I discuss some important updates on Indonesia's domestic naval shipbuilding activities at the end of 2023 + an (optimistic) prediction that in the next few years, we will witness a substantial increase in 🇮🇩 naval shipbuilding
The Indonesian Navy received several domestically-built vessels as part of its modernisation programme. This trend will continue in coming years 🇮🇩 Read the story by Muhammad Fauzan Malufti 🔗👇 https://lnkd.in/e4QxKnFM

Experienced international sales manager helping maritime industry to electrify and cut down their emissions
I would like to post some nice photos of today's visits, but unfortunately the #naval and #superyacht building are a thing with quite a high level of secrecy. Naval yards are increasingly important in today's world, with all of the European countries stocking up for obvious reasons. As we learned today, there is extremely high capability of designing and building very efficient navy vessels just a short drive from Rotterdam. All things considered, a very informative day with visits to Damen Yachting, Damen Naval and Oceanco. Didn't quite know what an impressive product a super yacht is, how much high technology is included and how much labor is needed to build one. Truly an impressive product. Of course, one can argue is there any sense in building super yachts. However, it was nice to see that the shipyards have also been having the same thoughts, considering alternative, less pollutive fuels, taking the environment into consideration as much as possible, having goal to have the super yachts carbon neutral, taking care of the social issues of the industry, just to name a few aspects. All in all, a very nice, and extremely informative experience, with also many new cooperation for Adwatec Oy possibilities in the future. #marine #sustainability #safetyforeurope

🚀 Exploring the Importance of Military Wetsuits 🌊 In the realm of military operations and underwater activities, having the right gear is not just an option—it’s essential for mission success. One critical piece of equipment often sidelined is the military wetsuit, also known as the army wetsuit. These specialized wetsuits are designed to protect our brave servicemen and women during perilous operations such as scuba diving, underwater working, and other vital tasks that demand both flexibility and resilience in challenging aquatic environments. 🌟 While a wetsuit allows for greater mobility and comfort, there are instances where conditions require an alternative: enter the drysuit. When facing the cold extremes of underwater missions, a drysuit offers superior insulation, ensuring that our personnel stay warm and focused on their mission, no matter the complexity of the conditions. ❄️🚫 As we continue to push the boundaries of exploration and security, our gear—including military wetsuits—must evolve to meet the challenges ahead. Investing in high-quality, durable wetsuits not only supports our military's readiness but also ensures the safety and effectiveness of our operations. Let’s champion the gear that protects those who protect us. 💪🌊 #MilitaryGear #Wetsuits #InnovationInDefense #SafetyFirst #UnderwaterOperations #MilitaryReadiness #skoutdooz

Its Wayback Wednesday ! Did you know that in one most affluent suburbs on Sydney's northern beaches lies a former Naval torpedo testing facility ? The Pittwater Annexe of HMAS Penguin is a quiet reminder of a time of war and the requirements of the nation's defence. The torpedo testing station was constructed in 1942 at Taylors Point, providing a clear line of fire for torpedoes straight up Pittwater to Lion Island. The station consisted of a workshop on the shore, a 213m-long wharf with railway line, a four-storey firing point building, and three pontoons spaced 1000m apart in a line heading north up Pittwater. For much of its 40-year-use, test firings (all 5,059 of them!) were conducted using Mk 9 torpedoes, each weighing around 8t and capable of travelling 45 knots. Apart from testing torpedoes, the station became increasingly used for clearance diving training and, after the last torpedo had been fired in 1983, the complex was redeveloped as a diver training school. Today, it continues its diver training role, offering a valuable service to both Australian and foreign naval personnel. #conveyancing #property #insurance #history #environment #environmentalrisk #landuse #propertydevelopment #planning #research #waybackwednesday #duediligence #climateresilience #infrastructure #landuseplanning #lending #historymatters #spatialfinance

In a year of significant elections, it is clear that whatever the outcome of the February elections in Indonesia, continued modernisation of defence capabilities will remain a priority. ‘This expectation is based on the upcoming presidential election on February 14, 2024, where all candidates have pledged to fortify the nation’s defence, including in the domains of blue-water navy and A2/AD capabilities, as well as an increased maritime defence budget’. https://lnkd.in/g9MKXcqY.

Here is a good quote from General Amos.
"A Marine is a Marine. I set that policy two weeks ago - there's no such thing as a former Marine. You're a Marine, just in a different uniform and you're in a different phase of your life. But you'll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego, or the hills of Quantico. There's no such thing as a former Marine." - James F. The Collision Rules (ColRegs/ Nav Rules) apply to all boaters on all boats at all times. Think of the Rule book as an Instruction Manual. It tells you exactly what to do, what not to do, and when to do it. 💥 43% of boaters report having had a "Near-miss" with another boat. What will that look like when it happens to you? Did you get yelled at? Did your family/guests on your boat get scared? Your online boaters ed course is simply not comprehensive enough and may give you a false sense of security because you passed a 2 question test. In my course on the BoatSafe App, I walk you through the Rules you will use every minute you are driving your boat from my perspective as a professional Yacht Captain, Instructor, and former Royal Navy warship-driver - Worldwide. Imagine how much more fun your yachting/boating will be when you confidently implement the Rules.
