Black, Latino and Asian runners in Los Angeles say the reason why their run clubs are growing is much deeper than what's on social media. It’s a safe space. It’s community-driven. It’s more than just a run club. Here are 24 run BIPOC-led, inclusive clubs you should know: https://ow.ly/zpNV50SLbTz Why it matters: People are scouring this sprawling region to find community, representation and inclusivity, and running groups led by Black, Asian and Latino runners are leading the pack. Why now: For decades, the list of runners of African descent who have dominated the track in both sprinting and long distance Olympic races has been long. Even right now, many Americans are crossing their fingers for track athletes like Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson to take home the gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Black Americans, Jamaicans, Kenyans and others in the African diaspora maybe be prominent in the most competitive spaces, but that doesn’t mean that regular folks are represented fully in the general running industry. According to the 2023 Running USA’s Global Running survey, only 4.8% of long distance runners in the U.S. are Black, even though there is a long history of Black Americans like Ted Corbitt and Marilyn Bevans who have made an impact in the field. The backstory: But while most run clubs do naturally present an open co-ed space for one to meet the love of their life or their next bestie, many Black, Latino and Asian runners in Los Angeles say the reason why their run clubs are growing is much deeper. It’s a place where all people, like Lauren Turner who describes herself as a “curvy runner” with a “mom-bod,” feel included in a sport, whose industry has long been predominantly white, thin and competitive, even in film, TV and magazines.

In the midst of an international marathon, Spanish runner Ivan Fernandez showcased an extraordinary act of sportsmanship that would resonate around the world. Known for his integrity and dedication to fair play, Ivan found himself in a unique and defining moment during the race. As the runners approached the final stretch, Kenyan athlete Abel Mutai, who was leading the race, misinterpreted a sign and stopped a few meters short of the finish line, thinking he had completed the race. Ivan, trailing close behind, quickly realized what had happened. In that moment, Ivan faced a choice: capitalize on Abel’s mistake to secure his own victory, or help his fellow competitor. Without hesitation, Ivan approached Abel and motioned for him to continue running. Abel, initially confused, quickly understood and resumed the race, crossing the finish line first. Ivan followed closely behind, satisfied not with a win, but with the knowledge that he had upheld the true spirit of sportsmanship. The crowd erupted in applause, not just for Abel’s victory, but for Ivan’s profound display of integrity. Ivan’s actions demonstrated that the essence of competition lies in respect, fairness, and kindness, rather than merely winning. Post race asked during interview Ivan said “I believe sportsmanship and integrity are more important than winning. A victory gained through someone else’s mistake isn’t a true victory. Helping Abel was the right thing to do. I hope people see that the spirit of competition is about more than just winning. It’s about respect, fairness, and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” True victory is not just about crossing the finish line first, but about upholding integrity, respect, and sportsmanship. In life, as in sports, the greatest triumphs come from doing what is right, even when it means forgoing personal gain. Ivan Fernandez’s actions remind us that helping others and maintaining ethical standards are more valuable than any trophy or title.

🌍🚴♂️ hansgrohe x Pro Cycling: A Perfect Match? Definitely for me! I joined Hansgrohe Group three years ago because I love road cycling. For the brand, though, the decision to start cycling sponsorship was a very rational one: - Professional Cycling is International: It's broadcasted globally with more than 300 race days per year. - High-Value Audience: Cycling fans have high net incomes and love investing in top-quality products (just like me! 😄). - Title Sponsorship: Unlike many sports, cycling allows us to be a title sponsor, not just a name on a banner. Our team name may be long, but it's the wins that count, right? 😉 - Passionate and Emotional: I believe the Tour de France is the most challenging sporting event in the world. Disagree? Watch the Netflix documentary "Tour de France: Unchained" (especially episode 2 where we have the yellow jersey – yay!). - VIP Experiences: Hosting VIP clients, employees, and press events around cycling creates strong community bonds. Stay tuned for our once-in-a-lifetime event at the final stage of the TdF in Nice this year! As CHECK24 Vergleichsportal showed during this #EM, #sponsorship can take many successful routes. What do you think about #sponsoring? Any other best practices that come to mind?

Races come in all sorts of shapes…there’s the 100m sprint, the 5km fun run (sorry to all you runners out there but fun & run are 2 words that in my opinion should never go together!) and then there’s the marathon. They all share one thing in common – a project end point, an actual finish line, a date when that ‘thing your doing’ is due. Often it can be hard to know where to start, how to train and your starting place will be different to someone else’s. Your race, while similar, will be different too. Writing a grant application or report can often feel like a ‘race’ against time. It doesn’t need to though. I’ve found the best thing is to start early. Have a plan. Then work your plan. I’ll be talking about ‘the plan’ @ the ‘SOLD OUT’ East Gippsland Shire Council Event Masterclasses happening next Tuesday and Wednesday. If you are planning an event in the East Gippsland Shire and haven’t got your ticket yet, you can jump on the waitlist. And if that’s not you and you want a mentor to help you develop a plan that will get your grant to the finish line, send a DM and we can have a chat about out how I can help you. https://lnkd.in/gJVF-pdj https://lnkd.in/gkDsZZDP Photo credit: Holly's Brag (check out Blue51 Communications!!)

Choosing the next location of a championship race is usually one of the hardest decisions we have, but taking the 2024 European Trail Run Champs to the peaks of the Pyrenees was one that came easy, and for a number of reasons. Firstly, there are the trails themselves. These are absolutely world-class trails and need no introduction to the global trail run community. The valleys and peaks that surround the small village of Arinsal, Andorra, are nothing short of an endless theatre for mountain enthusiasts, and for decades trail runners have been making the pilgrimage to experience the legendary trails of the Pyrenees. Then there is the organising partner, OCISPORT, who have for 2 decades been producing high-level running events and large-format festivals, and will undoubtedly deliver an exceptional race experience for every athlete on the starting line. In 2023 the event joined the XTERRA Trail Run World series for the first time and it was immediately clear that the team was able to tick every box needed for a championship-level event. Rest assured, this team will stop at nothing to make the European Trail Run Champs one of the biggest events of the 2024 season. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, is the community. This event comes with a significant history and growing community behind it. Now in the second year that the event has grown to become the all-inclusive Mountain Festival Comapedrosa, this is not just a race event but rather a festival designed to celebrate all the values XTERRA holds dear: nature, community, adventure, and challenge. This combination made it an easy choice, and the countdown to Europe’s biggest trail run event of 2024 has officially begun. More details in the announcement below, and we hope to see you there when the adventure begins. https://lnkd.in/g28e-MP7 #xterraplanet #weplayweprotect

Previously known as frisbee golf, Disc Golf is a flying disc sport where players throw a disc at a target, using rules similar to golf, with the sport usually played on a course with nine or 18 holes. Disc Golf courses, filled with trees, bushes, and varying terrain, present broadcasting challenges using traditional methods. Four-player groups navigate these courses, often landing discs in hard-to-film areas, similar to golf. To overcome these challenges during the European Open, Pulsea Disc Golf Media enhanced coverage by adopting the LiveU IP-video EcoSystem solutions to produce the event remotely with the highest quality. Read the case study to learn how the LiveU EcoSystem played a crucial role in the live production of this event >> https://bit.ly/3VnaOLN #discgolf #sports #sportsproduction #livesports #LiveUEcoSystem
