People / HR teams have grown comfortable with being understaffed. I think we all know why... HR – and other G&A functions – are non revenue generating. They are deprioritized until post-revenue. Even once these teams are hired, the ratio of number of employees to 1 HRBP just continues to grow and grow. Forget about more with less. How are understaffed People teams supposed to provide baseline support to an expanding cohort of employees with more complex needs than ever? We believe software and AI can help. HRBPs must be involved in initiatives to implement integrated, workflow-driven software that can multiply productivity – even up to 10X. They need to prioritize efficient collaboration with other G&A leaders as well as the business to hit goals. This clip from my last podcast episode doesn't explain the solution. But Alisa Avelar clearly articulates the pain that she has experienced across her career in technology companies, from Docker, Inc, to Modo Labs, to Toptal.
