As Seattle moves forward, it's important that we as residents and Citizen Architects, urban planners, engineers, design professionals, etc get involved in the comprehensive plan process moving forward. The draft is out for public comment and public open houses have been scheduled. There's a lot to digest - no doubt - but this should be a very exciting and engaging conversation on how to support the success of #Seattle. #urbandevelopment #affordablehousing #equitydiversityinclusion #resilientcommunities
Our draft One Seattle Comprehensive Plan is out for your review. The One Seattle Comprehensive Plan has set out with lofty goals—goals which, as a developer deeply invested in this city's future, I share. However, to realize the vision of affordability, we must confront the elephant in the room - the unreasonably high costs and red tape that developers face in Seattle. We're tasked with updating aging sewer, water, sidewalk infrastructure and trees, navigating a maze of inspections and permits, and contending with the arbitrary interpretations of inexperienced inspectors. The MHA fees alone are a formidable barrier to affordability. On top of this, developers find little support in managing unauthorized occupants, facing both fines and potential loss of property rights. We can't afford to ignore these issues if we're serious about building a Seattle that's accessible to all. Let's roll up our sleeves and address the real costs of development, so our city can thrive without passing undue burdens onto those we aim to house.

Today, AIA New York joined forces with the New York Housing Conference and more than 100 pro-housing organizations to urge the NYC Council to say #YestoHousing by supporting the NYC Department of City Planning #CityofYes for Housing Opportunity agenda. In a letter to Speaker Adams, the #YestoHousing Coalition called for comprehensive, citywide solutions to address NYC’s severe housing and affordability crisis. At a moment when nearly 500,000 NYC households spend more than 50% of their income on rent, the #CityofYes proposal is an unprecedented opportunity to remove unnecessary barriers to housing production and increase affordability across the city. We’re committed to working closely with leaders in government and community members to ensure the final text amendment delivers necessary housing reforms on behalf of New Yorkers. Want to know more about how you can achieve this? Click on the link to book a chat with me about how I can support you to comply with the newest Regulations whilst ensuring you have the right leaders to create the most innovative and cost effective solutions. https://lnkd.in/eruFBJ_e

We recently conducted a webinar that emphasized the pressing necessity for political action to address housing challenges encountered by women and low-income individuals in Cambridge. The Vital Signs report by the Waterloo Region Community Foundation has unveiled alarming statistics: minimal growth in rental housing within Cambridge has resulted in a severe shortage of affordable options. With rising rents and living costs, many are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet, with women being disproportionately impacted. This unfortunate reality has contributed to overcrowding and homelessness, further exacerbated by extensive waitlists for subsidized housing. Learn more about this pressing issue in "'It's like a tsunami of bad events that are happening to people,'" by Paige Desmond in the Waterloo Region Record. Read more: https://ow.ly/guRR50R0Lh3
