Healthcare Executive/International healthcare strategist // Maternal+infant health advocate // Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Consultant // Speaker // Author “The Colors of My Heart:Embracing My Blackness “
I was honored to be the keynote speaker at the RMU Women's Leadership & Mentorship Program's 7th Annual Women and Transformational Leadership Symposium held at Robert Morris University. During my speech, I discussed why I believe women are both the sugar and the salt of the earth. We bring so much flavor and strength to everything we do! The statistics are clear: women are vastly underrepresented in leadership positions. This has to change! We offer diverse perspectives and essential skills across all industries. Because strength comes in numbers, let's celebrate women supporting women! Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are essential, but empowering each other is key. #womensempowerment #WomenSupportingWomen #Diversityandinclusion

It has been an insightful few days attending Minerva BC's Inclusive Leadership Forum. I am happy to be walking away with a stronger inclusion lens for improved engagement and decision-making. A few key highlights include: ▪ Day 1: Organizational leaders have the ability to impact workplaces for the better, making them safer spaces for others to speak up. The power of inclusion will create spaces where we all thrive. ▪ Day 2: There can be many obstacles through uncertainty and change, this is when leading with authenticity is crucial. How? Building trust, fostering phycological safety and leading with shared values. ▪ Day 3: The importance is not just in creating inclusive workspace systems, but also by acting as a champion for change. Advocate for change, be willing to take action in challenging the barriers, regardless of your position. Elaine Lin Hering speaking note asked some wonderful thought-provoking questions that all leaders should be asking each time they enter a meeting. I look forward to reading "Unbreaking Silence" which dives into the pervasive influence of silence and how we can begin to dismantle it in order to use our voices.
That’s a Wrap on the 2024 Inclusive Leadership Forum! We enjoyed learning alongside Forum attendees and deeply appreciate the time and commitment over the past three days. We are grateful to the amazing speakers who shared their knowledge and passion for advancing equity. Thank you to our Forum Sponsors: Overall Sponsors: BCLC, PwC Canada, Best Buy Canada Day 3 Sponsor: Real Estate Foundation of BC Media Sponsor: #GlobalBC We are already looking forward to 2025.
