New paper contributing among giants to understating and reviewing how deep uncertainty can better be used for the IPCC AR7!! All analysts and modellers could learn a lot from this, and lots going on in this domain for the foreseeable future!

The IPCC exists to provide policy-relevant science to decision-makers.  Often the most policy relevant information is uncertain.  Over the last twenty-five years, the IPCC has drawn increasingly on DMDU concepts to more effectively include policy-relevant, but lower-confidence scientific information in its assessments. Our new paper – The Use of DMDU in the IPCC –describes how the IPCC has benefited from DMDU and how DMDU can contribute to the next IPCC assessment report. Topdanmark’s near-term climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in August 2024. Topdanmark has set targets for its own operations (Scope 1 and 2), investments (Scope 3, category 15) and a voluntary target for suppliers (Scope 3, category 1). Topdanmark is the second Sampo Group company to have its science-based climate targets validated by the SBTi. If’s targets were validated in December 2023. The group-level targets and Hastings’ targets have been submitted to the SBTi for validation in July and August 2024, respectively. Dear Network, For the past year, we have been working hard at Climate Compatible Growth #CCG#CCG to improve our capacity building offer, ensuring that we are serving to the needs of LMICs in the most effective manner. As a result, I am happy to introduce our newest capacity building service: The CCG Bootcamps. The Bootcamps capitalize on many of the CCG offers that majority of you are familiar with, including the Open Learn Collection, the Energy Modelling Platforms, and the Energy Modelling Community. Aimed to deliver more long-term, targeted, and deliverable driven capacity building support, the bootcamps come in three modalities: - The Scholars Bootcamp (SBC) - aimed at academics, the bootcamp offers a capacity building intervention at the end of which the participating group will publish an academic paper, - The Partners Bootcamp (PBC) - aimed at International Organizations wishing to outsource their capacity building activties, whereby the activities lead to a policy document of a sort (e.g. long term energy transition plan, decarbonization plan, etc.), - The Data-to-Deal Bootcamp (D2D-BC) - aimed at countries (with or without the support of International Organizations) who would like to undergo the D2D pipeline, aiming to unlock concessionary financing at the end of the engagement. Many of the individuals who have trained at the Energy Modelling Platforms with Climate Compatible Growth #CCG and partners, have told us that they would like their ministry and department colleagues to have the same experience. Well now they can. The Bootcamps offer training to TEAMS from government ministries, universities and other organisations so that they can learn and work on a real-world project of their own. And they get the support of an expert mentor throughout. Find out more below.
