If you know me, you know that I have a passion for speaking out on behalf of all occupational therapy practitioners who work in an environment that is not supportive of client-centered, evidence-based practice! Until we, as leaders, rumble with the leaching toxicity of productivity demands and unrealistic caseloads, we will continue to ask why so many practitioners are resistant to getting involved in associations who are quiet and look away from the struggle. Until we as practitioners rumble with the pressure of progressively reduced reimbursement rates, and the ripple fallout in a business, we will continue to not understand the critical aspect of joining together in numbers and having a voice loud enough to be heard by crucial game-changing legislatures and insurance companies. Educated rumbling leads to good questions, and good questions lead to meaningful research on how these corporate pressures affect client health outcomes & practitioner longevity!
