An insightful yet personal look at the experiences of female leaders in Singapore. While it’s disappointing to read that only 32.2% of senior leadership roles globally were held by women in 2023; it’s great to see Singapore pushing beyond this average as women occupy 42% of leadership roles. One of the Key aspects on my summer Agenda as an advocate of Female Leadership and Positive Change is to cultivate the Resilient Leaders of tomorrow, giving emphasis on mental health and trauma awareness that comes in alliance with the Women Empowerment Worldwide Leadership Vision. As part of the Resilient Leadership Tour announced, I have scheduled several key meetings & events throughout summer. One of this meeting will be with Cyprus’s Commissioner for Gender Equality Josie Christodoulou which emerged from the High-Level Conference on Women for the Mediterranean that was held in Nicosia and was co-organized with the Union for the Mediterranean.  The goal of the meeting is to stimulate strategic thinking and join forces with the WOMEN EMPOWERMENT WORLDWIDE LEADERSHIP global prism on not only increasing the presence of women in boardrooms and C-level positions, but also decreasing the resignation phenomenon, via specialized leadership training programs. This meeting signifies a series of actions involving key women figures who participated in the Conference, offering valuable insights into advancing gender equality, combating violence against women, and enhancing their representation in leadership roles and funding, starting from the Mediterranean Region. A sincere #thankyou to all leading ladies and supporters of the Conference who, through their efforts and initiatives, drive positive change in the region. The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that fully closing the gender gap in Africa could add $316 billion to the continent's GDP by 2025. Female leadership is a critical driver of this potential. Studies show that companies with more women in decision-making roles perform better, with higher profits, greater innovation, and improved social outcomes. 'Who here has been bullied, talked over in meetings, called aggressive and emotional, and made to feel not good enough at work?' This is the question I asked the female leaders at the last WILD event in December. A wave of hands went up, probably around 99% of the audience. Although this wasn't a surprise to me, having been working closely with women for the last few years, it did make me feel sad and ponder: 'Why do female leaders endure a rocky road of uphill struggle throughout their careers to reach the top?' I am privy to these conversations and experiences and have had my fair share of a plethora of adverse circumstances while in my corporate career in London and Dubai. A recent study showed women become CEOs when they reach 50, spending all those years pushing, proving, stretching themselves, going the extra mile and showing up with mettle to earn those stripes. What I know for sure, is that these women, the rare few that make it to the top, know the struggle and cultivate a passion for wanting to create change, ensuring the younger generations don't have to endure what they did. This was my reasoning for my latest brainchild: WILD Leadership Mastermind WLM. A vetted think tank for high-level women leaders from the UAE and KSA to come together and challenge the status quo. Imagine being part of this peer group mastermind with key knowledge sessions from guest experts, applying the knowledge, and it all being collated at the end, producing a white paper for policy change. Let´s talk with men! According to #GrantThornton's latest report, the percentage of women in senior leadership roles worldwide increased from 32.4% to 33.5% in 2023, another slow progress. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Next Friday, May 10th, I'll be speaking at the ASEAN Economic Forum Gender Inclusion Panel Session - "Women Leadership in ASEAN: Driving Economic Growth." Firstly, thank you to Marion Neubronner, Anna Gong, Syarah Anira and the entire AEF team for this opportunity to speak about Inclusion and Equitable Representation, a topic close to my heart. Secondly, there's something fundamental I want to emphasize: the future of leadership transcends gender. A world characterized by sustainable growth and positive change requires us to move beyond binaries. That said, a few things I’m reflecting on: 1️⃣ Women (and other underrepresented groups) require MORE, NOT EQUAL support and opportunities for leadership roles that shape economic, social, and political landscapes 2️⃣ True success isn't achieved solely by increasing the number of female leaders. How do we equitably distribute the greater value created through diverse and inclusive leadership? 3️⃣ Each of us possesses far more influence than we often realize. By leveraging our circles of influence, no matter how small, we have the power to create change, foster inclusion and drive growth The future of leadership is collaborative and people focused - these are universal traits.
