🌸 Important News on Women's Health 🌸 Resharing from Sky News: Calls are growing for statutory miscarriage bereavement leave. While current UK law provides leave for stillbirths after 24 weeks, there's no specific leave for pre-24 week miscarriages. It's vital to support early pregnancy loss and advocate for statutory leave, ensuring all parents have the time to grieve and heal. #BereavementLeave #WomensHealth #EmployeeRights https://lnkd.in/eMmAKYM8

Every loss matters. It leaves a hole that cannot be filled—a void of “what ifs,” “if onlys,” and the dreams of a life that couldn’t be. It’s the daily reminders, the birthdays that should have been, the memories made and those that will never be. This is why I stand with Aching Arms in supporting the Miscarriage Association’s Leave For Every Loss campaign. It’s time to recognise that pre-24-week losses are just as profound and deserve the same acknowledgment as post-24-week losses under bereavement leave legislation. Every pregnancy loss matters. It’s time to ensure every individual has the time and support they need to grieve. Learn more about the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/etdHiJS
Aching Arms are proud to support the Miscarriage Association Leave For Every Loss campaign – calling for pre-24-week loss to be included in bereavement leave legislation. Pre-24 week loss is the only type of loss excluded from bereavement leave laws, leaving all those affected unable to access the same level of support as post-24 week loss. Every pregnancy loss matters - it's time to give Leave For Every Loss. To find out more about the Miscarriage Association campaign, click here: https://lnkd.in/etdHiJSf

This Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day, I want to honor all those mamas & daddies whose babies aren’t in their arms. Because it’s a heart-wrenching loss, no matter how far into pregnancy you were. Because I can’t even imagine getting to a point where I once held my babies & no longer get to. Because I had two early losses that I will never forget (they would be 4.5 & 3.5). Because we carry our grief with us wherever we go, including the workplace. I will honor you & your losses by advocating to include pregnancy loss in bereavement polices & infant loss in paid parental leave policies. I will not tell you stupid platitudes like, “at least you know you can get pregnant” or provide you unhelpful suggestions related to lowering stress or improving your diet. I will vote for legislative candidates & judges who will support policies that will ensure that if you are miscarrying, you can receive the healthcare you need right away, without your provider worrying if they will be arrested or lose their medical license. I will remember your loss, because I know it’s easy for everyone else to forget, but you never will. I will stand with you, because I know you will stand with me. 💜 #pregnancyloss #infantloss #paidleave

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. over the weekend, my family and I walked in the Sands/Red Nose Walk to Remember, in honour of our son Arthur. Remembrance Day is not for the families of babies gone too soon - they remember every day. It is a reminder for all that this pain and loss touches so many. Please take a moment today and self reflect. Remember that questions like "when are you having children?" or "will you have another?" are not harmless. Staying silent when someone you know is experiencing this devastating loss because you are scared of saying the wrong thing can be so isolating for the person who is grieving. If you are able to influence your workplace policies, review how your Parental Leave policies deal with loss. Miscarriage and Stillbirth are just two forms of loss, however, many policies only refer to this. There are many great resources out there for employers to improve the language they use and the support they give to their employees.

I whole heartedly support the mission of the Miscarriage Association and appreciate the voice they are bringing to the conversation around this topic. Most Bereavement policies in the U.S. do not cover miscarriage (at any stage) or reproductive loss. That means that employee's that face these extremely hard losses are faced with either having to use their PTO/sick time (if available); take unpaid or in some cases work through the loss. In many cases, employees do not open up to their manager and instead work through their miscarriage, for various reasons including fear that they won't be supported. Miscarriage and/or reproductive loss takes a heavy emotional and mental toll on both parents, no matter where the family was in the stage of the loss. As with any loss, there is no timeline for healing, grieving and the physical recovery adds an added complexity to the "healing" process for the mother. But I do know that having no time is not enough and doesn't make an employee feel supported. As someone who has experienced both a reproductive loss and a second trimester miscarriage, I have a deep understanding for how important it is for employees to have adequate time available to them to recover from their loss, work through their grief and heal. I hope that initiatives such as this, having hard conversations coupled with work being done by companies like Bereave that companies make changes to policies that support employees at all stages of their life, including these extremely challenging times. #employeebenefits #bereavement #paidleave #miscarriage
📣Leave For Every Loss 📣 Today, we’re making a stand and launching our Leave for Every Loss campaign, so that women and their partners who experience a pre-24 week pregnancy loss have the legal right to take bereavement leave from work. Our campaign comes in response to overwhelming public support for equitable parental bereavement leave and highlights the emotional, physical, and social toll of pregnancy loss. Right now, pre-24 week loss is the only type of loss excluded from bereavement leave laws, and this needs to change. Every pregnancy loss matters – so let’s have Leave For Every Loss.
