As Mental Health Awareness Month winds down for 2024, I want to remind everyone that you often can't tell if someone is struggling by the way they look. I think this is especially true in the legal profession. Many of us were taught early in our careers to repress our feelings entirely at work and push through. I remember once being told by another legal professional, "Suck it up. It's not professional to cry at work." The lesson I learned that day was that it's not ok to be not ok and vulnerability had no place in the legal profession. It's taken years of therapy to unwind this. For this to really change in the legal profession, we need more people openly talking about the fact that: - It's ok to not be ok. - It's ok to be vulnerable. We can never really understand what people are going through, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't create more psychologically safe spaces in the legal profession. In the end, everyone benefits. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #legal #legalprofessional

Jacob Little and I are looking forward to hosting our discussion panel on mental health implications within the legal profession. In truth, I have at least another five people I would have loved to bring on board for this discussion but we already have eight panelists and no doubt will go over the one hour time allocated! Stay tuned for more info! #mentalhealth #auslaw #healthyadvocacy #unelawmum About Time For Justice
