I'm happy to share that our latest research paper, titled "Transforming evidence-based clinical guidelines into implementable clinical decision support services: the CAREPATH study for multimorbidity management," has just been published in Frontiers in Medicine! This study presents a robust methodology for generating implementable specifications for clinical decision support (CDS) services to automate evidence-based clinical guidelines. Our approach, rooted in international standards like CDS-Hooks and HL7 FHIR, aims to enhance the quality and relevance of the generated specifications by fostering collaboration between clinical experts and software engineers. Honored for our (Jynette Querubin Li Ding) work to be featured by AHRQ PSnet as a novel patient safety innovation! We created evidence demonstrating the importance of empowering clinicians with data through ongoing performance monitoring combined with data literacy training. Our biggest takeaway: *liberate the data* AND guide the teams to reflect & connect that knowledge with meaningful action. Reinforcing data alone is not sufficient for making change, there is value in educating frontline staff to understand the data and connect it to their workflow to drive action. This can lead to significant gains in positive patient outcomes. In our case, decreased mortality, reduced ventilation hours, and increased discharge to home. Good ED performance is based on a system. Increasingly, it is recognised that expansion of the physical space of ED is unlikely to be enough to drive improvement. The key is sharing responsibility and coordinating resources, risk and services across an urgent care footprint and beyond. In the last two years, our little bit of the web has consistently improved performance with the same limited resources (x5 trollies, old ITU space). We are about to move into a renovated AEC/SDEC space, and as that occurs, I expect our ED performance will continue to improve as SDEC widens its catchment. We are working with external partners to use AI-assisted modelling of current/future demand to understand where and when SDEC/AEC patients are presenting to align the right services with better insight than constrained historical data. We are training more ACPs, engaging more medical and nursing staff, and altering operational hours. We are working hard to get the network right with '111', 'WMAS', 'UTC', 'Acute Oncology', and ED. This work will improve the care and quality we can deliver to patients across Urgent and Emergent Services. It's going to be big...

I am thrilled that the first paper of my dissertation has been published! We report on the development and validation of the Treatment-Preference-Measure-Advance Care Planning (Treat-Me-ACP). An early-stage outcome instrument that uses hypothetical scenarios to measure the dynamics of patient preferences and complements the evaluation of the effectiveness of advance care planning interventions.
