A recent study done by Birth Trauma Association (UK) reported how many women had procedures performed without their consent – and what the procedures were? Whether any of the professionals involved in their care had performed procedures without their consent, more than four in 10 (42.4%) said yes, 43.8% said no, while 13.8% said they were not sure. Those who replied yes were asked to name the procedure that was performed without their consent. The three most common procedures were vaginal examina1on (17.9%), episiotomy (16.6%) and cervical sweep (12.5%). These were followed closely by Syntocinon (oxytocin) drip (10.0%) and rupture of membranes (9.8%). Proprioception and Rehabilitation Proprioception is your ability to move in a space without thinking about it or having to see what's below you. It's an automatic process, but for people recovering from neurocognitive injuries like a stroke or concussion, returning proprioception to 100% should be a priority. This is a conclusion corroborated by the 2022 study cited below. According to Nguyen, Chou, and Hsieh, rehab focused on proprioception in connection with muscular function yielded significant improvement in areas like balance, functional reach, moving from sitting, and distance walking.
