At the beginning of this year, I became the chair person of the Social, Ethics and Sustainability Committee of MTN Ghana. This subcommittee of the board has a broad range of responsibilities including oversight of MTN Ghana Group’s ESG and Sustainability work. It has been a steep learning curve but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, particularly seeing the impact that MTN Ghana’s ESG initiatives have on the lives of millions of Ghanaians.
The story in the video below about what has happened when the MTN Ghana Foundation donated a six unit classroom block to Nyieaso. The new classroom block has become a beacon of hope, inspiring others to contribute resources, time, and investments in infrastructure, creating a ripple effect of positive change. 🌊💪
Children who lacked educational opportunities are now thriving, families are empowered, and the community has experienced an uplift in morale and unity. 🌈✨
This story is important because it illustrates the power of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) to make a significant difference in our world. By incorporating ESG principles into business operations, companies like MTN Ghana are actively contributing to positive environmental, social, and governance outcomes. ESG is not just a responsibility; it is an opportunity to shape a more sustainable and equitable future for generations to come.
Special thanks to my colleagues on the subcommittee, the #management of MTN Ghana and the MTN Ghana Foundation and to Nompilo Morafo and her incredible team at MTN for all they do.
