'𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙄'𝙢 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙣 🇸🇪 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩'. DongHoon reached out because he knew something in his life had to change... ❌ He was working an unfulfilling internship in Seoul while dreaming of going abroad. However... ❌ He had tried for months on his own without much progress. ❌ After sending applications to dozens of companies/schools, he never even made it beyond the first screening interview. One of the Top 50 best engineering programs in the world 🌍. I still remember when we first met, Donghoon... You told me how much you'd love to live in a place far from all the pressure of Seoul. Where you could: ✅ Enjoy fresh air/beautiful nature any time ✅ Do work that you actually enjoy ✅ Live your life how YOU want to 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱. Hey LinkedIn Family, After two fulfilling months of running a mentoring program where I had the joy of helping clients land their dream roles, I’ve embraced a new adventure that I couldn’t pass up. I’m thrilled to share that I've joined Marmon Group as their College Relations Specialist, leading the charge in supporting early career talent. Transitioning from well-known giants like Facebook, PepsiCo, Accenture, and Unilever, the difference in leadership at Marmon has been pivotal. Just six weeks into my role, I already feel happier, healthier, and genuinely excited to give my best each morning. This shift is all thanks to the empowering management style of my leaders, Becky Tinkham and Eugene Edw. Curtain III, who truly see my potential and encourage me to harness it fully. At Marmon, more than any other place I’ve been, I feel seen and valued, not just as an employee but as a person. Being the sole lead for our robust campus program presents its challenges, especially as I transition from working within larger teams. However, trusting my instincts—honed over a decade—and having leaders who believe in my capabilities has allowed me to start doing some of the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done. This experience has reinforced a vital lesson—often times, the fit with your manager and the company culture is just as important as the role itself. For those feeling stifled or unseen, remember it’s okay to seek a change where your values and style align better with those of your leaders. I want to thank everyone who has supported me through the years. Finding a place like Marmon, where the culture resonates with my personal values, makes all the difference. It truly was a crazy 4 months, trying to balance field research, lab work, data analysis, hosting international collaborators, co-organizing a career fair, working on developing the national biodiversity targets and indicators in alignment with the global biodiversity framework and much more! Nevertheless - always a pleasure providing young ppl with opportunities that enables them to experience research! Some of the most interesting / surprising things some of my interns have said to be me which makes me question whether we communicate what it is like being a research enough! - “The research lab work was so repetitive, I expected to do something new/ different everyday.” - Context: I offered my interns co-authorship as they did a lot of lab work, I asked them that if they wanted they could contribute to data analysis and writing so they can gain some experience. Some interns asked me if they were going to get paid to do so 😅😅 I had to explain to them that researchers don’t get paid to write papers when they collaborate with others. - Interns were surprised to hear that researchers pay journals to publish their work especially for it to be open access! It is rewarding to see them all grow but it always makes me realize how much work we need to do to communicate things in a better manner and lead by example! I truly had the best group so far! Feeling so blessed! P.S. The video only showcases 3 out of the 7 smart interns and budding scientists I took on!
