National University (NU) is thankful for our time today with California State Assemblymember David Alvarez (D-Chula Vista)! In the Assemblymember’s district office, NU President Mark David Milliron and Executive VP Nancy Rohland-Heinrich, Ed.D. shared more about our students and key partnerships in the South Bay, where we have had a physical presence for more than 30 years. NU currently has a campus in Chula Vista, and has recently announced plans to have a future physical presence at the Southwestern Community College District campus. Southwestern College is also our top transfer community college in the state. Joining us for the meeting was my friend and colleague Kristen F. Soares, President of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, which supports the needs of California nonprofit private institutions and the students that enroll with them. Together, we discussed with Assemblymember Alvarez the importance of passing Cal Grant reform next year, and expanding greater pathways to higher education for South Bay residents and all residents across our state. With new leadership and new opportunity in the California State Legislature, NU looks forward to addressing student financial needs and other critical policy issues next year in Sacramento. #highered #southbay #chulavista #calgrant #calgov #ca #nufam
