Sedation interruptions (SI) are a key part of evidence-informed interventions in patients in #CriticalCare, used for a variety of reasons such as reducing overall drug exposure and allowing assessment of neurological status, among others. Clinical career options for general internal medicine physicians are extremely broad and flexible. Two of the most recognizable types of practice pursued by general internal medicine physicians are primary care general internal medicine in which the internal medicine physician cares for patients longitudinally, throughout their health journey and provides preventive, acute, and chronic care, most often in the ambulatory setting, and hospital medicine ("hospitalist") in which clinical work is focused on caring for patients requiring hospital-level care. If you go to an urgent-care center/clinic the cost to provide care rises to $185. But if you go to the emergency room it costs $2,700. 💡 Placing a nasogastric tube involves risks. As healthcare providers, we should always strive for accurate placement. Our study examined the clinical effectiveness of the corrected nose-earlobe-xiphoid distance formula (CoNEX) for determining the internal length of nasogastric tubes in adults.
