Happy Day after Christmas, also known as Boxing Day in many Commonwealth nations. Interestingly, although Boxing Day is now associated with post-Christmas sales, it actually originated as a holiday to give gifts, donations and charity to people in need. It was a day to recognize the hard work and hard lives of the less fortunate and to share with them in goodwill. Some say that wealthy business owners would give their employees Christmas leftovers and other presents and the gifts were usually wrapped up in a box, hence where the holiday's name originated. Another theory is that the term Boxing Day also refers to church alms boxes, the containers used to collect donations from church visitors. Supposedly, these were opened on December 26, and the collected money was then distributed to the underprivileged. Whether you're continuing the spirit of giving during the holiday season or hunting for deep discounts on Boxing Day (or both), have a gratifying day. #BoxingDay2023 #CanadianTradition #364DaysTilXmas

This is my son Ben, Ben sadly lost his life in july 2022 whilst on holiday with his family This left all who new him devastated and empty. As a family we decided to raise money for the local rugby Leigh East the team Ben played for to allow all 14 years old's thru to and including open age to get heart screening which helped detect some abnormalities and saved other families go thru the same devastating loss as ourselves. Bens uncle and his friends are this year doing a grueling challenge to help raise money to do the same for Bens cousins team and other at the Golborne Parkside arlfc club. If any of my contacts would like to donate it would be really appreciated ,we are trying our best to detect heart abnormalities for the people who love playing the sport of rugby

Tasmanian greyhound racing clubs are deeply integrated into the local community, actively supporting a wide array of grassroots organisations and initiatives. In Hobart, the Greyhound Racing Club has embraced local sporting clubs by hosting sporting clubs challenge nights that benefit a variety of clubs across sports ranging from AFL to netball, offering both direct sponsorships and opportunities to win additional funding. Similarly, the Launceston Club enriches the community with race days tailored for aged care residents, creating memorable social experiences. Moreover, a collective initiative across Tasmanian clubs culminated in a generous $35,220 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, significantly enhancing the support facilities for families of children undergoing medical treatments in Hobart. These initiatives underline the greyhound racing industry’s dedication to nurturing and giving back to the communities they operate in, reinforcing their role as key players in building and sustaining local community spirit. AN INTERESTING PHENOMENON TO RESEARCH ON - EXPLAIN IT! This indeed evokes my passion for #research! I am #curious to find out: "#Who, #how and #why did who #transfer/#transmit what to who"? This poses a big research challenge to be resolved, as one can be very convinced that such key observations cannot simply occur randomly in our world! An observation which might be difficult to explain, but let's, however, take on that challenge of explaining IT! #LionelMessi and #LamineYamal had more to exchange with one another when they first met! How did they do IT?

In 2007, 20-year-old Lionel Messi took photos for a Barcelona charity calendar with six-month-old Lamine Yamal. 16 years later, Yamal just became the youngest scorer in Men's Euros history.

We’re thrilled to partner with the charity Love of the Game for the third consecutive year for an event in October alongside Holland & Holland, championing concussion awareness in sports. We recently spoke with Simon Shaw, president of the charity and former rugby player, about their incredible work. Simon shared, “I started Love of the Game to drive awareness and funding of solutions that can prevent, diagnose, and treat concussion in sport, not just rugby, but all sports.” Check out the full article to learn from Simon about their mission and what’s next for the charity: https://lnkd.in/e96UhzFH #SparkBrilliance #LoveOfTheGame #ConcussionAwareness #SportsSafety #Charity Michelle Elkins Robin Dey Rob Frank

A quick video update for those who are interested in helping the cause. The cause is helping young people thrive through sport basically: https://lnkd.in/gutzu_-S
Hi everybody, In a fit of insanity I decided to hike up Mt Kilimanjaro with my mate Dave Hodgson so we’re heading off next month. In a fit of inspiration I decided to use the hike to raise money to help young cricketers so I’d be very very grateful if you could see fit to donate to the cause via the givealittle page below. I get that it’s not a cure for cancer but I totally believe in cricket as a great sport to teach people about life. Helping our young people achieve their dreams is a hugely important thing in my mind. So anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. I’ll also be doing a facebook page to keep you posted as we go. Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain on the planet so it’s a huge challenge for an old bugger like me! Get your cheque book out!

Life is incredible, but can be more fragile than we sometimes appreciate. This October, a team of 6 of us, will be taking on the CHX #MeetYourMountain Challenge 2024, in support of our chosen charity – The Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation. This tiny charity, founded by Ed & Louis Jackson, after Ed Jackson (a professional rugby player at the time) suffered a life-changing and hugely traumatic spinal cord injury, leaving him paralysed from the shoulders down. Ed’s journey from hopelessness to climbing some of the highest mountains in the world, is our inspiration to go higher & further, and we hope you’ll take it with us! For those of you who know me, I am passionate about action sports and being out of my comfort zone where the risks are visible and obvious, as it can teach us our most valuable lessons. At the same time, so can charging down a hill with my little boys on their bikes. Life is incredibly special, but fragile to the same degree. Our life-circumstances can change in a heartbeat, in the midst of everyday life. That is why I am so passionate about this. Life-changing can be life-changing if we have the support to make it that way! We will be competing with 5 other teams (representing their own charities) over 2 days on the Mont Blanc massif, accumulating as many points as we can by covering as much distance, and gaining as much altitude as possible, raising as much fundraising for #M2M as we possibly can. We will be aiming for around 6km of altitude gain, equivalent to doing twice that of the British 3 peaks challenge, at twice the altitude, where the air is thinner and the summits are higher! We will endeavour to surpass 60km of distance and £12,000, aiming to get on the top step of the podium. We can of course go fast alone, but we can go further together. Please chuck what you can in our virtual bucket – know that you’re doing something awesome, and I’ll keep you up to date with training, teaming & achieving If you want to make a difference to someone, please hit the link: https://lnkd.in/ed2ZptC4 #ThankYou #Leadership #Purpose #Charity #M2M CHX Challenge Robbie Udberg Damien Stork Tim Welch Andrew Barlow Stuart Swaby Julien Leblanc Kelly McInenly Chemmy Alcott Rodolfo Goes Enrico Marchelli Toni Marshall Marc Grannum Matin Macdonald
