week 02 in my future i want to become a successful HR manager, one must blend both technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. The role of an HR manager is pivotal in any organization as it involves managing the most valuable asset: people. To excel in this career, I plan to acquire a strong educational background in human resources, focusing on areas such as labor laws, organizational behavior, and employee relations. Additionally, gaining practical experience through internships or entry-level HR positions will be essential. This hands-on experience will help me understand the dynamics of different workplace environments and the challenges that come with managing diverse teams. Beyond formal education and experience, developing strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills will be crucial. An effective HR manager needs to navigate conflicts, foster a positive work culture, and ensure that the company’s goals align with employee satisfaction and productivity. Moreover, staying updated with industry trends and technological advancements in HR tools will allow me to implement best practices and innovative solutions in my future role. By balancing empathy with strategic thinking, I aim to create an environment where both employees and the organization can thrive. Ultimately, my goal is to be an HR manager who not only manages people but also inspires them to achieve their best, contributing to the overall success of the company. #horizoncampus #ssleson

🎓 Grads entering HR without specific experience 🎓 Although HR internships are valuable, they’re not always within reach. Instead, focus on leveraging the skills you’ve gained from past experiences, like those in casual hospo or retail roles. In the last 5 junior HR roles I’ve filled, hiring managers consistently prioritised these key skills: 🌟 Strong stakeholder management skills: Think about all the relationships you’ve had to manage in your job—customers (the good and the bad), suppliers, managers, and colleagues. 🌟 Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments: The most fast-paced job I’ve ever had (yes, even more fast-paced than teaching teenagers) was working the drive-thru at Maccas on a Friday night. 🌟 Strong communication skills: Think about all those store policies you’ve had to explain to angry customers (especially the refund policy—I could probably recite it in my sleep!). 🌟 Ability to manage workload and competing priorities: Let’s just say my Uni days of juggling a part-time job, full-time classes, assignments, a social life, and sports commitments were a crash course in handling competing priorities. Your journey into HR is about showcasing how your past roles align with HR demands. Learn what HR involves, understand what’s in demand, and confidently translate your experience into this field. Hiring managers, what skills are you seeking in recent graduates?
