Marketing, more than colouring in? 🎨 Good session today understanding the importance of cultivating our amazing brands. As a sales person, I can sometimes get caught up in the numbers and miss the “fluffy” stuff. Today I was reminded that brands are crucial to the positioning of our solutions when diagnosing customer problems. Successful sales tactics follow suit. Thanks to Frankie Coulter for workshopping with us, the importance of our brand equity when influencing a shopper decision.

Lots of talking points, of which several stood out… 👉 liquor has great heritage and emotional connection - these will be powerful levers for growth in the coming months 👉 bottleshops and bars are at the heart of communities so talking more to the occasion makes very good sense 👉 costs up, frequency down - times are tough all round right now, and it means BAU won’t cut it in the next 18 months… 👉 Gen Z is hard to recruit…no surprises there, and I can tell you exactly why younger shoppers aren’t excited, category-by-category…(ask me 😉) 👉 delighting consumers with genuine innovation is the way forward…. …and here’s my build on that one… ⭐️ delighting consumers doesn’t stop when they walk in the store. If you don’t delight them when they’re shoppers, you might not get the chance to impress them as consumers!! I’m not CEO of a big business and I don’t claim to know all the tough decisions people in those seats have to make. What I know is retailers and suppliers could be collaborating smarter and putting the shopper at the heart of more conversations, to create more consumers and grow existing baskets. Together, we can put more fizz back in the off-prem in 2025…! Does Philly run on Dunkin'? It depends on the metric you're looking at! A few months ago, some of my FourFront team members and I did a data analysis of all the Google Business Profiles for coffeeshops in Philadelphia. One thing I noticed when writing a story about it (see link in comments) was that there are a LOT of Dunkin' locations in the city. Interestingly, the average rating of these stores actually beat out the average rating of all the Starbucks in town. However, you may notice (and also not be surprised) that the average rating of the locally-owned cafes tended to be several points higher. So in my opinion, Philadelphians tend to run on Dunkin only when they have to. :) #philadelphia #phillycoffee #fourfront #dataanalysis

Lately, I started working part time as a Brand Ambassador for a Marketing company, and selling products to people at various Sainsbury's outlets has taught me a lot about Marketing and Sales. For example, last Friday (15th March 2024), I was called to sell Irish Whiskey (neat). And first of all, I learnt that its not easy to sell Whiskey in the afternoon as I got a lot of "It's too early to be trying Whiskey" responses. I only had 5 hours, and the company Target was 20. COMPANY'S USP TO COMMUNICATE TO CUSTOMERS: • Try the new award winning Irish Whiskey. The Busker blend Triple smooth, Triple Casks produced in Royal Oak distillery Ireland • It is a beautifully yellow gold coloured whiskey.
