As a recruiter there are few things that I consider as vital to the recruitment process. One of them is ensuring an excellent candidate experience. It is absolutely imperative to prioritise providing every potential job applicant with a smooth and professional experience throughout the hiring process. Potential candidates need to feel heard and respected from the moment they reach out, to the job offer. A positive candidate experience will not only result in the right hire for your role but will also capture this candidate's loyalty for the future. It's important to have an easy-to-use application process as well as ongoing communication that will support the candidate during the entire recruitment process. Simple professional touches like a welcome card or a gift card to local coffee shop can go a long way in making the experience more personalized and enjoyable. 👥 🤝 💬 🤵 ✅ #CandidateExperience #RecruitmentProcess #HiringExperience

Can someone explain why companies which won't hire me expect me to fill out a survey about my "candidate experience" even though they won't tell me ANYTHING about WHY I wasn't hired? How am I supposed to improve or repair things if employers have nothing remotely constructive to say? "It's not our policy to explain why we don't hire people," is not helpful, and it's deeply hypocritical to expect me to fill out a survey (of ANY length!) telling you how your not-hiring process was for me. . If you're going to drag people to three or more interviews and not hire them the very least you can do is send a $25 gift card when you send your obnoxiously hypocritical survey. The more reasonable, adult response would be to explain exactly why you didn't hire me. When you refuse to say anything it makes me think that you aren't on the up & up.

These are all fairly grand gestures, but it doesn't have to take a huge budget to pull out all the stops when you want to secure the top pick for your company. In niche industries and skillsets where it can be hard to find the right fit, even the small gestures can set your company apart from other options they are exploring. Also to note - those things are a BONUS on top of the essentials such as quick feedback, an efficient interview process, and clear communication about the position and company. Here's a few easy (and cheap!) ways to go above and beyond: - Handwritten thank you note - Engaging with them on Linkedin - Gift card for something like coffee (if they've expressed having a very busy week!) - Invite them to a team event to get to know staff in a more casual setting. When you're wanting the absolute best fit for your organization, spending 10 minutes on something like writing a card can make all the difference. And, as always, we are here to brainstorm ideas with you!
