An "all too true" reality when bringing any new product to market. So what can we do? Well, one start with a REAL user and a real problem. We have to talk to this person in a non-sales setting to understand their needs. There is no place for a "build it and they will come" mentality. Get research. Keep this user at the front of mind in all decisions and narratives. Never build a product or story solely on what YOU think a user wants. And two, how to get everyone telling the same story? Strong leadership that listens and collaborates on message with employees then disseminates that story OR strong empowerment of a few key employees to bring the story to life in much the same way. Pair these methods with a messaging guidance document that is regularly updated and that everyone can access. Now you have a unified story and collaboration in your team. And ... you guessed it ... a superior product and story.
