Waste-to-energy (WtE) is an ingenious process that converts waste into usable energy. We can reduce landfill waste let's turn trash into treasure! What should we do with more and more garbage? Conversion of plastic and tire waste into energy carriers, such as heating oil, diesel, grill coke, synthesis gas, etc. Waste-to-Energy plant is a great alternative to reduce the area for waste treatment and disposal, in addition to generating energy for all small cities in the region. A good alternative is to create an inter-municipal cooperative between small cities to share costs. It is a social advantage if small villages we are supplied with locally produced energy, thus creating local jobs for the local energy using population from waste collected locally, where the government should finance projects, if they do not want their country to be covered in waste. Our innovation in environmental protection is the use of microwave technology. The main advantage of vapor plasma reactors is that there is no nitrogen in the plasma reactor in the microwave steam plasma, no nitrogen from the air (only hydrogen and oxygen are produced from water vapor) In emissions no nitrogen oxide, which is 40x more toxic than carbon monoxid, no sulfur dioxide (filtration with ceramic filters, with adsorbents), minimal carbon dioxide and odorless emissions. Wind turbine blades can be reused in a non-thermal microwave plasma field where the electron temperature is much higher than the generated gas temperature, including the vibrational and rotational temperature of the molecules. In the plasma space, all complex compounds such as resins, aromatic molecules and tars are effectively degraded and separated from the inorganic glass fiber reinforcement. In the Syschemiq project, 21 organisations from all over Europe have been working for the past year and a half or so towards creating a circular urban-industrial plastics district, by improving plastic recycling in the trilateral region of Belgium, the Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia. The final phase of negotiations (or Trilogue) between the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union will soon begin to agree on the definitive legislative text of the proposed revision of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (#PPWR), a key part of Europe’s circular economy ambitions. With polyolefins being the most commonly used plastic – accounting for 71% of collected plastic waste – they play a central role in helping Europe’s packaging is as sustainable as possible. Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP) stands ready to fully engage in making PPWR a success and helping make polyolefin’s more circular.
70% of the UK population considers plastics a critical issue. Six years ago, WRAP launched The UK Plastics Pact, the first in a global network of Plastic Pacts. This initiative unites businesses across the plastics value chain with governments and NGOs to combat plastic waste. Representing 75% of all consumer plastic packaging in the UK, the UK Plastics Pact has been a driving force for collaboration and innovation in the industry. Since 2018 problematic plastic items have been reduced by 99% and the levels of recycled content has tripled. Every year, the Plastics Pact brings together key plastics industry experts and innovators for collaborative networking and knowledge exchange at our UK Plastics Pact Annual Summits - essential for driving collective efforts towards our targets. Exploring pathways to foster innovation and level the playing field for the reuse and recycling of plastics has been a pivotal focus for us. Last week, our board member, Esther van den Beuken , engaged in a meaningful discussion with Queen Máxima at Renewi Nederland , accompanied by industry experts Marc den Hartog from Renewi and Anita Scholte op Reimer from Ahold Delhaize, representing expertise in waste management, design, and recycling. Together, we delved into the challenges, and opportunities within the realm of circular plastics. Emphasizing the crucial role of waste policies in creating an environment conducive to sustainable solutions, this dialogue underscored the need for collaboration between, policymakers, researchers, investors and industry players. Initiating a bold move towards a fully circular approach to plastics, CPNL started in 2023, aiming to accelerate the transition with strategic subsidies. Leveraging the support of the Nationaal Groeifonds our focus extends to addressing bottlenecks across diverse value chains, with the ultimate goal of closing the loops for existing plastics. We recently joined forces with Institute of International and European Affairs on a Real Talk roundtable to foster honest discussions among policymakers, NGOs and industry leaders in Ireland on advancing the circular economy for plastic packaging. A new white paper following the roundtable recommends a greater focus on the opportunities unlocked by the circular economy, a sectoral approach from the Government to policy on the circular economy and strengthening recycling and reprocessing capacity and infrastructure on the island of Ireland. Through these recommendations, together we can reach the EU Single Use Plastic Directive targets of collecting 77% of plastic bottles for recycling by 2025 – increasing to 90% by the end of the decade. US Plastics Pact it would be nice to recognise that your members, your brand owners, like coca cola, do not use EPS, they use PET bottles. A promise to reduce anything else than PET bottles, or other materials they actually use themselves as brand owner, is an empty promise, equalling greenwashing. Please note that we requested publishing your report justifying the inclusion of listed materials for phase out by US plastic pact members. No supporting studies were published. Anyway there is no reason to include EPS. As you will be aware UN recognised EPS is one of best recyclable materials, actually recycled at scale ....... like PET (personally very much in favour of PET beverage bottles, combined with DRS).
