Happy National Dog Day! 🐾
Today, we’re celebrating the incredible bond between brain tumor community members and their loyal canine companions.
For Mackenzie G., her dogs were by her side when she learned her tumor was growing again, offering comfort and strength when she needed it most.
For Ryan N., his dog’s strange behavior when he was a little kid led to the discovery of his brain tumor, saving his life.
Dogs aren’t just pets — they’re a source of unconditional love and support in our toughest moments.
Share a photo of your furry friend in the comments and tell us how they’ve helped you through your journey.

This my best pal, Ralph (and me ~5wks post surgery)! My wife and I brought him into our lives about a month after I was diagnosed with my brain tumor. He was my reason, every day before and after radiation, to get up and head to the dog park. He kept me active, kept me kind, and continues to make me laugh.
Cancer has a way of reminding you what matters. Ralph’s now a big brother to our twin girls and he taught me how to be a dad. I owe him a whole lot!
Despite being dealt one of life’s most unfortunate hands, I am beyond blessed to be surrounded by the love I feel every day from my family and my furry son Ralph.
“Oh Crap”
My vet said that was her initial reaction when looking at my dog’s ultrasound scan last week.
It turns out that our dog, Maggie, has cancer that has spread to her liver. The vet says she likely has just a few more months to live.
My wife and I knew something was up because Maggie had lost a decent amount of weight recently. But we weren’t really expecting cancer.
Maggie is 10, so she is already getting on up there in age for a dog her size. Going into the appointment, we had already determined that we wouldn’t take any drastic measures in a worst case scenario.
The worst case scenario hit and we decided to forego talking to an oncologist about chemo options. Spending thousands of dollars to potentially prolong a pet’s life by a year or two just doesn’t make financial sense for us at the moment.
But it got me thinking…what if Maggie was 4 or 5? What amount of money would we have spent to try to fight her cancer then?
These are all hard questions to answer and it’s different for each pet owner.
It’s even different for the same pet owner at different times in their lives. I’m much more willing to prolong a pet’s life with young daughters in the house than I would have been if my kid’s emotions weren’t part of the decision making process.
Where do you stand on finding this balance?
Would love to hear anyone else’s story about how they handled the decision making around large pet expenses.

Something Canadians Do Not Understand About U.S. Healthcare
While we see the Canadian health care system failing under unprecedented demand, the US has other issues.
Imagine that you voted for Obamacare believing it was going to improve your standard of health coverage, but the reality delivered something you never saw coming. Your own health care became unaffordable as you lost the private plan your employer provided.
In addition, you got taxed extra if you did not pay for the replacement, unaffordable private plan - and yet you did not qualify for direct coverage under "Obamacare." A mean catch-22.
This man's story reflects what happened to many. Some of my family were also caught up in this.
A niece had a plan provided by her employer get cancelled, because it failed the "new standards." She was paying $120 per month with a $500 deductible. The cheapest new plan was $400 per month, with $1,000 deductible. This on a $40,000 a year salary - yet she did not qualify for "Obamacare" coverage.
Imagine how this devastated many Americans. Completely unexpected because that health care plan imposed was so poorly understood. You had rent or mortgages to pay, car payments, etc - and suddenly your health care plan more than doubled in premium costs.
It also became illegal to not have a private health care plan if you worked for an organization with more than "X" number of individuals. For my niece, she would have paid a penalty of close to $200 per month for not taking the new coverage. Many did this, and are still paying for zero benefits.
So free health care to illegals is a mean slap in the face for many Americans. They're paying for something they can't receive while still paying a cash penalty because they can't afford health care coverage.
This seems unbelievable to us, but for Americans it is very real. So if you wonder why a criminal (Trump) could possibly be supported - this goes a long way to explaining things!

Did you know exposure to UV light is one of the leading causes of skin cancer?
As summer is arriving soon, we've decided to share a video on how to protect yourself from the sun.
It'll teach you what to wear, the quality of sun cream you need to buy and more.
