During my first day of careers week I attended the ‘Exploring Placement Opportunities: Tips from the experts’ talk. With the assistance of the student panel, I gained a better understanding of the placement world. From locating positions to networking inside the placements and readjusting to university life in the third year, they offered excellent guidance. This conversation inspired me to keep looking for the ideal position the next year! #marketing #careersweek #TeamMIBT #placements #careersadvice

Last weekend, I attended the She Leads Africa Career Fair, where I had the chance to listen to incredible panelists and connect with like-minded professionals. One major takeaway for me was the importance of putting yourself out there—an idea that’s both empowering and essential for growth. Here are some key lessons that left a mark on me: 1. On-Demand Learning: In a world that’s constantly changing, the ability to learn at your own pace through digital platforms is invaluable. This flexibility allows you to tailor your growth to what works best for your lifestyle and career goals. Embrace learning in the moment and choose paths that build your unique strengths. 2. Leveraging AI for Growth: Rather than fearing AI, use it as a tool to amplify your abilities. Growth requires curiosity—ask more questions, dive deeper, and leverage technology to stay ahead. 3. Purpose and Value: At the heart of every action should be value. Understanding why you do what you do drives impact and fulfillment. Stay purposeful and intentional in everything you pursue. 4. Facing Challenges Head-On: Growth isn’t always comfortable. When you encounter challenges, step forward, learn, and master them. The goal is to make yourself so valuable that you become indispensable. 5. Own Your Journey: You are in charge of your growth. Knowledge is a lifelong asset that no one can take from you. Complaining holds you back—so, instead, ask yourself, What can I do now? Who can I become? Every day is an opportunity to grow. These insights reminded me that career resilience and advancement come from a mindset of continuous learning and a relentless pursuit of value. I’m excited to begin sharing more about my journey and insights. How do you future-proof your career? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #SheLeadsAfrica #CareerDevelopment #ContinuousLearning #CareerResilience #Putingyourselfoutthere

Last month, our team got stellar shots from the Tourism Product Development Company Limited (TPDCo) Youth Expo and Career Fair held on Thursday (April 11), as demonstrated in today's post. Naturally, in honour of #EducationWeek, we've decided to provide educators islandwide with some tips on how to pull off a successful Career Day so they can give their students key insights as they guide them toward the ultimate goal of successfully transitioning to the world of work. 1) Organise a Committee - Two heads are better than one. Career days require intense planning, so it is your best bet to assign the duties of putting on the event to a group of people rather than leaving the task(s) to one person, who will likely become overwhelmed, increasing the risk of the event being a disaster or being canceled altogether, leaving many people disappointed or frustrated. 2) Check with the School Calendar - To finalise a date, you should always take a keen look at the school calendar beforehand to ensure that it won't clash with other events, as this will lead to conflict by forcing people to reconsider their priorities, which might end up reducing the number of attendees for the Career Day, defeating the purpose. 3) Notify Speakers/Company Reps in Advance - Potential speakers or company reps are highly likely going to be very busy people, which is why it is important for you to secure their participation at least a month before the scheduled date and avoid last-minute arrangements since they'll probably be booked for the day, leaving you scrambling to find suitable replacements. #education #school #schooltips #career #careerday #careeradvice #careerdevelopment
