Next Monday, November 20, we will mark Trans Day of Remembrance. This year, we've created a digital memorial for both grieving and celebrating those we've lost. At transremembrance.org, you can learn the stories of those we've lost, read the Remembrance Report, and help us make sure that none of those we lost will ever be forgotten. This was a labor of love, and only made possible by the hard work of our staff, our organizational partners, community members, trans + queer journalists, family members, and friends of those we've lost. The portraits seen here are just some of the individuals whose memory we honor this year. On the 20th, we'll share more about the project. In the meantime, visit with the stories of the bright and beloved ones we've lost. Read and share the words of those who loved them. And know that our community - and our love for each other - is our strength. ❤️ Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gbmabZia

As we honor Juneteenth today, we reflect on its significance both as a celebration of freedom and a call to action. Juneteenth reminds us of the progress made since the end of slavery and the work that still lies ahead to achieve true equality for all. At AnnieCannons, we see Juneteenth as a powerful reminder of our role as allies and advocates. It’s a day to celebrate, but also a day to reaffirm our commitment to learning, listening, and taking meaningful steps to address ongoing injustices. We encourage everyone at AnnieCannons and our supporters to take part in this reflection and action. Use this Juneteenth to engage in anti-racism work, address racial inequality, or develop a personal anti-racism plan. 🌟 Honoring Juneteenth and Addressing Disparities 🌟 As we commemorate Juneteenth, a day of immense historical significance, PAAR stands in solidarity with our African American community. We recognize that the fight for freedom, equality, and justice extends to all aspects of life, including addressing the disproportionate impact of sexual violence on black survivors. Juneteenth represents the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, marking a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that systemic racism and its interconnections persist, contributing to the disparities faced by black individuals, including survivors of sexual violence. Studies have shown that black survivors disproportionately experience sexual violence, often facing unique challenges when seeking support and justice. At PAAR, we are committed to amplifying their voices, advocating for their rights, and providing a safe space where healing and empowerment can occur. We encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the intersection of racial injustice and sexual violence. Let us use this Juneteenth as an opportunity to deepen our understanding, have difficult conversations, and support survivors in their healing journeys. Together, we can work towards dismantling systems of oppression and creating a more inclusive and equitable society. #Juneteenth #PAAR #BlackLivesMatter #SexualViolenceAwareness #Empowerment #Equality #Justice #Healing #Support #Inclusion

Today we celebrate Juneteenth! While Juneteenth is a day of celebration, we also acknowledge how freedom and justice in the US has been hindered for Black people. Juneteenth came two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) that technically freed slaves. More than two years would pass until freedom reached Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 to ensure all enslaved people be free. With this, we also recognize Juneteenth is not just a historical event; it’s a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality and justice. It’s a call to action to continue the work of those who came before us, ensuring that freedom and opportunity are truly accessible to all. Its relevance today is as important as ever. #juneteenth #celebration #freedom #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #equality #justice #calltoaction

Happy Juneteenth! 🖤 Today, we celebrate the liberation of Black people in America, recognizing the immense struggle and triumph that this day symbolizes. As we reflect on this historic milestone, it's crucial to remember that Queer and trans liberation is inseparable from Black liberation. ✊🏽 As a nurse, I see firsthand how the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality impact health outcomes. Our healthcare system still grapples with systemic racism that affects the quality of care our Black and Queer communities receive. It's not enough to just acknowledge this – we must actively work towards change, advocating for equality and justice within our profession. ✨Let's celebrate Juneteenth by✨: 🖤 Educating ourselves and our peers about the unique challenges faced by Black and Queer individuals. 🖤 Advocating for policies that promote equitable healthcare access and outcomes. 🖤Holding ourselves and each other accountable to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. #Juneteenth #BlackLiberation #QueerLiberation #TransLiberation #HealthcareEquity #NursesForChange #Pridemonth #Pride

Hard truths that people (especially Americans) need to accept: 1) 99.9999999% of these politicians are trash. The two-party system is trash. If you think voting Democrat is going to save us, or even marginally improve our lives, how is that working out for you? When you say "lesser of two evils", do you mean for yourself only? Because voting blue isn't helping Palestinians right now. (Tbh it's not helping Americans either.) 2) Politicians and the mainstream media are expert liars. That's why many Americans are only recently realizing the truth behind the occupation. If a politician says something, fact check it. If a mainstream news org reports something, fact check it. If they say the sky is blue, look out the window to double check. They lied about Palestine, and they lie about everything else too. 3) Diversity doesn't mean anything when it comes to political power. The US ambassador to the UN who voted against a ceasefire is a Black woman. The White House Press Secretary who compared pro-Palestine protesters to white supremacist protesters is a Black queer woman. Putting people with marginalized identities in positions of power does NOTHING to advance social justice or liberation of oppressed groups. Stop asking for more diversity within these corrupt systems. Start asking for more justice. 4) All oppression is connected, and all liberation must be too. If you care about Black Lives Matter, about trans rights, disabled rights, reproductive rights, Indigenous rights, etc, then you must care about Palestine. If you don't, or are choosing to look away, then I'm sorry but your beliefs are not serious.
