Research and innovation in mental health are stagnant. Let's change that together! Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. Shockingly, 1 in 4 people in England face mental health challenges each year, yet research funding lags far behind. I'm taking a stand by abseiling down the Cheesegrater for MQ Mental Health Research, a charity exclusively funding research into mental health conditions, their causes, and treatments. Join me in this crucial cause. Support my effort here https://lnkd.in/ehHQJS9A and make a real difference. In a world with an ageing population, the mental health challenges faced by older adults—ranging from social isolation to physical decline—deserve greater attention. It's crucial to take a life-course perspective, understanding how mental health in later years is shaped by earlier life stages. On this #WorldMentalHealthDay 2024, we invite you to reflect on how we can promote mental wellbeing and prevent multi-morbidity in older adults, ensuring they not only add healthy years to life but also find purpose, joy, and fulfilment in those years. The 2024 Alive NationalMental Health Lived-Experience Priorities Study for young people living with mental ill-health (aged 16-25) and their carers, family, or kinship groups is now active! Their goal is to ensure they are informed of the mental health priorities of Australians throughout the life course and that their research agenda aligns closely with the needs of those who it is for. This year, they have decided to offer more than the usual survey and co-design, and you get to choose how you would like to take part. There are four different participation methods to help generate and prioritize mental health research topics: an online survey, photo interviews, emotion mapping, and crowdsourcing. Its not just about changing diapers and singing songs. Mental health matters in our centres too. Are You Okay Day at our centres is a crucial issue to discuss with staff due to the significant impact it can have on the overall well-being of both children and educators. By fostering an environment where open and honest conversations about mental health are encouraged, staff members can better support each other and model healthy coping strategies for the children in their care. It is essential for employees to feel comfortable sharing their feelings and seeking help if needed, as this not only promotes a positive work culture but also ensures that they are able to provide the best possible care for young children. By addressing mental health in the workplace through initiatives like Are You Okay Day, we can create a community that prioritizes emotional well-being and sets a positive example for future generations.

When challenging behaviors arise, it's easy to chalk it up solely to the condition. But here's the truth... Behind those behaviours may hide unspoken traumas, anxieties, or mental health concerns that deserve to be explored and addressed. As we commemorate Children's Mental Health Week in the UK this second week of February, let's pledge to look beyond and deep within. 🧠🔍 Let's be mental health allies, raising awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and well-being, and most importantly, recognising the possibility of underlying issues and guiding them toward the support they deserve. Understanding goes beyond what meets the eye. Here's to creating a world where their voices are heard, and their mental health matters. 💛 Double tap and share to spread the message! 💡 Our Thrive Family Membership values mental health in both you and your child. During #HispanicHeritageMonth, we honor the generations of Hispanic and Latinx leaders who have tirelessly advocated for greater access to mental health care, breaking down barriers for their communities. Despite this progress, systemic challenges still exist—language barriers, stigma, and limited resources can make access to care difficult. Finding a provider who understands your culture, language, and unique experiences can transform your mental health journey. #WorldMentalHealthDay is an international day for education, awareness and advocacy about mental health. This year's theme is: "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace." If you're struggling with mental health at work, you're not alone, and you have rights. California and federal laws may protect you from discrimination based on your condition, allow you to request reasonable accommodations, or provide you time off to care for yourself. Everyone deserves to feel respected at work and to access the support they're entitled to. Mental health is a human right!
