South Street Interceptor Project - SPR-TM spiral wound technology
SPR-TM (Spiral Wound Pipe Rehabilitation Technology) is an advanced method used for the rehabilitation of aging or deteriorated pipelines without the need for excavation. This technology involves the insertion of a continuous plastic profile strip into the existing pipeline, which is then wound into a tight spiral, forming a new structural pipe within the old one.
Key features of SPR-TM include:
Minimal Disruption: Since it is a trenchless technology, it significantly reduces the need for digging, minimizing disruption to traffic and surrounding environments.
Durability: The resulting pipe is highly durable and resistant to corrosion, extending the lifespan of the pipeline.
Versatility: It can be used for various pipe shapes and sizes, including round, egg-shaped, and arch-shaped profiles.
Efficiency: The process is faster compared to traditional pipe replacement methods, reducing downtime and labor costs.
Environmental Impact: It’s an environmentally friendly solution, as it avoids large-scale excavation and reduces the carbon footprint associated with conventional pipe replacement.
SPR-TM is widely used in municipal, industrial, and commercial applications to rehabilitate sewer, stormwater, and water pipelines, providing a cost-effective and sustainable solution for infrastructure maintenance.

📌South Street Interceptor Project
In collaboration with the New York DDC, New York DEP, and Coppola Services, Inc. SEKISUI SPR Americas is thrilled to announce the use of our SPR-TM spiral wound technology for the first time in New York City for the South Street Interceptor Rehabilitation.
Nearly 1,000 LF of an aging 8-foot by 6-foot rectangular sewer pipe will be rehabilitated by a rectangular liner, and will utilize the existing access points, a modified bypass plan, and overnight work hours to minimize interruption to the busy area above near New York City's financial district.
It represents the first non-round liner installed in the US in 11 years. And, as of today, Coppola Services has already completed 100 LF of lining.
Congratulations to everyone for their work to start this project and we look forward to updating everyone on its progress.
An excellent project to spotlight! Thankful for great partners in this industry Lindamood, Inc. , Controlled Demolition, Inc. and National Demolition Association.
