Register for the July 11 C3E webinar on Advanced Nuclear Energy – Electricity and Beyond at 2-3 p.m. ET. Moderated by #NETL Director Marianne Walck, this webinar will highlight recent developments in nuclear reactor design, demonstration and deployment. Advanced reactors will be capable of doing more than just producing electricity. Nuclear energy, when integrated with other generating sources, can enable technology for local economic development. The panel will discuss new technologies and the status of demonstrations, future energy systems that include the integration of multiple generating sources, and the role of U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories in bringing these technologies to market. Very interesting insights about small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) that will supplement the nuclear supply and participate in the decarbonization of the energy sector. The first demonstrators are expected to be commissioned around 2030 and real acceleration in deployment starting in the 2040s. Will Baltic energy sector take an advantage of this technology? #EY #SMR Read full report here:

A new U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) report finds promise in pairing nuclear reactors with carbon dioxide removal technologies, including direct air capture. The findings: When compared to previous studies of direct air capture systems powered by fossil fuel sources, nuclear reactors could lower the levelized cost by up to 13 percent for solid direct air capture systems and up to 7 percent for liquid systems, making them more economic to deploy.
