Nearly 1 in 5 Americans suffer from depression, but many aren’t properly diagnosed or effectively treated. Also bearing in mind that some patients have other preexisting health conditions which may complicate mental illness diagnosis and treatment regime. So personalised treatment for mental illnesses moving forward is a must to help people get their condition in remission and reconnect to the community like a totally normal person, is possible. We could also incorporate diet and lifestyle changes as part of the treatment regime. Also I personally have a question posed out to all, how do we medicate high functioning individuals who have mental illness as compared to low functioning individuals?

There are studies that link antibiotics with increased risk of depression. There are studies showing direct correlation between gut microbiome and depression. Then, of course there is lifestyle and life occurrences etc. So there are several natural factors which should be considered before even considering pharmaceutical treatment.

Throughout my life and the cases of depression I have met, the medication worsens their condition and does not improve it. Only my friend and one of the family members have had this effect, and his condition has deteriorated with the medication. However, the second has stopped taking the medication and has turned more to worship. His condition today is wonderful.

Is it possible for multiple subtypes of depression to coexist? Upon reading the article, I feel I have 5 out of 6 subtypes. I've been diagnosed with clinical depression and medicating for two years now.
