Adults 65 years and older are at greater risk of serious complications from the flu compared to young, healthy adults. This is because human immune defences become weaker with age. Take extra precautions to protect your health. Remember, it’s never too late to get vaccinated! #WinterWellness #FluSeason

Here are 3 simple things you and your family can do to protect yourselves from seasonal flu: Get Vaccinated: This is the single most effective way to prevent the flu. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over 6 months old, especially young children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with chronic health conditions. Frequent Handwashing: Germs that cause the flu can spread easily through contact with contaminated surfaces or people who are sick. Make sure everyone in your family washes their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid Close Contact with Sick People: If someone in your family is sick, encourage them to stay home from work or school to avoid spreading the flu. You can also try to avoid close contact with anyone who appears to be sick outside of your household. While it’s great that you have a strong immune system and rarely get the flu, getting vaccinated is not just about protecting yourself. It is also about protecting those around you who might be more vulnerable to the flu, such as the elderly, young children, or people with weakened immune systems. By getting vaccinated, you help create herd immunity, reducing the spread of the flu and protecting those who are at higher risk. Additionally, the flu can still affect even healthy individuals, leading to missed work or school days and potential complications. Getting the flu shot is a simple and effective way to reduce your risk of getting sick and helping to keep your community healthy. #bustthemyths #knowthefacts #mythsandfacts #flushot #fluvaccine #preventinfections #getyourflushot #getvaccinatedtobeprotected

The dangers of Physicians for Informed Consent lies: praying on your ignorance. The seizures they mention are not linked to vaccines per se, as they would be associated with fever.Febrile seizures are the most common neurologic disorder of infants and young children, occurring in 2 to 4 percent of children younger than five years of age. They are an age-dependent phenomenon with a strong genetic predisposition. While often frightening to parents, caregivers, and witnesses, febrile seizures are a mostly benign occurrence and are associated with a low risk for future epilepsy (ref1). Furthermore, febrile seizures are often linked to pre-existing neurological disorders that have not yet been diagnosed. This Denmark study (ref2) with almost 400,000 children concluded that the relative risks of febrile seizures were increased on the day of the first and the second vaccinations, but the absolute risks were low (<4 per 100 000 vaccinations) and the overall risk of febrile seizures was not increased within 0 to 7 days after DTaP-IPV-Hib vaccinations. The risks of recurrent febrile seizures or subsequent epilepsy were not increased for children whose first febrile seizure occurred within 0 to 7 days of vaccination. The risk of epilepsy was not higher among vaccinated vs unvaccinated children. All parents should be reminded that any fever, regardless of etiology can cause seizures and should be managed accordingly (ref3). Antipyretics, such as ibuprofen, should be used in such cases to either prevent or manage such seizures (ref4). Be aware of the potential risk factors such as being younger than 18 months or the duration of fever (i.e., shorter duration of fever before seizure equals higher risk of recurrence)(ref4). https://lnkd.in/e8juUu7P https://lnkd.in/et_3TJKU https://lnkd.in/eyB3JF_Q https://lnkd.in/e29fA47h
What are the side effects of the #IPVvaccine? Common side effects include fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, & fatigue. A more serious potential side effect is seizure, which may occur in 1/829 children vaccinated with #IPV. Do your research. Start here 👉 picdata.org/polio-vrs/
