🌟This year National Child Protection Week (NCPW) will run from 1 – 7 September 2024. 👉🏾As it stands today, NCPW aims to engage, educate and empower Australians to understand the complexity of child abuse and neglect and work together to prevent it. The campaign does this through sharing evidence through webinars and events as well as creating resources to empower communities to have conversations regarding children’s safety and wellbeing. 🗣️In 2024, the message that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ will be complemented with the theme ‘Every conversation matters’. This NCPW we invite you to speak up – and speak together – about what needs to change for every child in every community to have a fair go. ➡️QNADA’s paper on Systemic Responses discusses reorienting our approach to addressing the social, cultural and structural determinants of health by working towards reducing the well-documented harms associated with contact with the child protection system, and collectively achieve better outcomes for children, young people, families and the broader community. ⏬👀To read or download QNADA’s position paper Systemic Responses: Child Protection visit: https://ow.ly/zbcz50Tcbk6

Like many areas across the country, neglect is the most common denominator in safeguarding cases and the need to improve practice and confidence to tackle this issue has been paramount. Globally, 16 % of children and youth (covering primary to upper secondary) are not attending school and at primary level, 1 out of 10 children worldwide are not in school. And 122 million, or 48% of the out-of-school population are girls and young women. This is a matter of serious concern. And what is alarming is that the new UNESCO data reveals that the global number of out-of-school children has risen by 6 million since 2021 and now totals 250 million. Tomorrow's (11th July, 1 PM IST) panel discussion will highlight the critical importance of protecting children from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect through a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder approach to ensure their safety and well-being. Do try to join. Registration Link: https://lnkd.in/ghaE42uG

This week is National Child Protection Week. We love the messages that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ and ‘Every conversation matters’. As NAPCAN says: "Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well. Conversations can help us understand issues, craft solutions, value community knowledge, and build the brains and social connections of children and young people. Conversations between …children and their caregivers matter (from the very earliest days) …children and their peers matter …families with teachers, doctors, and other professionals matter …friends or neighbours matter …decision-makers and the communities they serve matter. And, of course, conversations in the public realm and media matter…" At The Venny having conversations with children and young people is at the heart of how we play and share and protect those in our care. This week is an opportunity ot learn and reflect on how its everyone's responsibility to keep children safe and what we can do that will matter. Conversations are a crucial practice in preventing child abuse and neglect before it starts. Check out the amazing resources at https://lnkd.in/ggSFGDWg
