Great video touching on why we should do a preliminary exposure reduction. He mentions Dawn soap because it is a surfactant, Decon 7 has surfactants in it but also other ingredients that are proven to neutralize and remove contaminates from fires. So the saying, water is good, soap is better, a solution with a proven formulation is the best. But it all comes down to budgets, even so we still needs to do out best at removing these contaminates and reduce the risks. #HealthandSafety #Decon7 #EmergencyServices #PreliminaryExposureReduction #PER #De-Wipes #Firefighters #EmergencyDeconSolutions

Explaining to 12 years old guy what are T cells Imagine your body is like a huge castle, and inside this castle, you have a team of special knights who protect it from invaders like germs and viruses. These special knights are called T #lymphocytes, or #Tcells for short. They're part of your body's immune system, which is like the castle's defense force. T cells are super cool because they have different jobs to make sure your castle stays safe. Some T cells are like scouts; they roam around looking for invaders. When they find one, they send signals to call for backup. Other T cells are like the castle's soldiers; once they know where the invaders are, they rush in to fight them off. And then, there are T cells that are like the castle's memory keepers. They remember the invaders so if they ever try to attack again, the T cells can recognize them quickly and defeat them faster. So, T cells are really important because they help keep your body healthy by fighting off germs and making sure you don't get sick from the same germ more than once. They're like tiny superheroes inside you, always ready to defend your castle! #flowcytometry #gpt4

Last year following #MemorialDay - HunterSeven Foundation wrote this piece in the veteran publication, Coffee or Die Magazine. The piece questioned why, if America’s wars, for the moment, are over — if we are no longer fighting on foreign soil after two decades of the Global War on Terror, why are we still burying so many service members? In August 2021, the United States Army moved forward with plans to limit in-ground burials at Arlington because the cemetery is simply running out of space. Now, despite being largely removed from active war and large-scale engagements, our veteran cemeteries across the country are still being filled at an alarming rate — sometimes, the burial process can take months. The answer isn't to find more space to bury our service members, but to find out why they're dying — and help put a stop to it. It has been a year, and still... we are asking the same questions. Why are so many young, otherwise healthy post-9/11 veterans and service members dying from preventable #cancer deaths? And what are we doing to prevent it? https://lnkd.in/eJQY7iNC

I would like to share an #interview with Cornelius Bartels, who shared insights from a three-day training on biorisk awareness and mitigation organized by ECDC, Europol, Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, and Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. Cornelius Bartels, from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection in Germany, shed light on the intricacies of CBRNe events - from defining them to understanding their historical occurrences. From the Syrian civil war to the tragic poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko, these events underscore the importance of preparedness. 🛡️ He emphasizes the need for intersectoral #workplace cooperation, involving key players like #lawenforcement, #publichealth services,#agricolture, #veterinarymedicine and more. In today's landscape, anticipating and preventing deliberate releases of CBRN agents demands a robust culture of information exchange, systematic risk analyses, and foresight methods. For EU neighboring regions, Cornelius suggests a regional approach, fostering cross-border collaboration and sharing insights through transnational trainings. Together, we can enhance our collective preparedness against CBRN threats. #CBRNe #Biosecurity #Collaboration #Preparedness #EU #Security Here the interview:

The role of Whole Blood Transfusions during operation Iron Swords
Whole blood transfusions have been rarely administered throughout the last half of the 20th century, as the separation of blood into specific components seemed to make the most out of each donation. In recent years, they have seen a comeback especially during times of war. Dr. yoram klein, the Director of Sheba’s Trauma Unit speaks in depth on the reemergence of whole blood transfusions during the current conflict and the difference they make for injured soldiers. Today is Mesothelioma Awareness Day (Meso Awareness Day) Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that mainly affects the lining of the lungs, but it can also occur in the linings of the abdomen and heart. One of the challenges with mesothelioma is its long latency period, which means that symptoms may not show up for 10 to 50 years after exposure. By the time symptoms do appear, the disease is often already at an advanced stage, leaving few treatment options available. The primary cause of mesothelioma has been linked to exposure to asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral that was commonly used in materials that endure heat and friction. Something we should all know: According to the Purple Heart Foundation: "Service men and women of our military are susceptible to asbestos exposure as a result of mass historic use of asbestos-products. While there has been a decline in asbestos usage and stricter regulations, asbestos may still be present on military bases, naval ships, and aircraft equipment. Because of this, there is a steady diagnosis rate amongst veterans. This will remain unchanged until asbestos is completely banned in the United States or the government issues a mandate for all asbestos to be removed from military locations. Those who have served our country between 1920 to 1980 are at the highest risk of developing an asbestos-related disease, as this was the height of asbestos usage. Locations such as the sleeping barracks of ships used in the Navy were tight and limited, allowing for a high concentration of fibers to be present if asbestos was disturbed. Other branches that are affected by asbestos include the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and Marines through asbestos materials used in things such as aircraft braking systems, military vehicles, and fireproofing for ships. An additional risk factor that should be kept in mind is the use of asbestos in other countries. Members of our military can also be exposed while on deployment and stationed in areas that are war-torn, and as a result, have created large amounts of debris and rubble." #mesothelioma #asbestos #lungcancer
