Happy Friday, Friends! In just a few weeks, another school year begins for NYC public school students. As you may know, most NYC public schools are underfunded and often lack resources. Many teachers, myself included, wind up spending thousands of dollars each year to help combat these issues and provide students with healthy learning environment. With that in mind, please consider helping me in setting up my students for success by funding necessary tools and resources! I have created two project with DonorsChoose and on August 14th, all donations will be matched at least 50%. Your genorosity, whether it be a little or a lot, is greatly appreciated. Another way to help is by sharing the two links below. Thank you so much in advance. Project 1: Help me give my students the tools and resources they need so that they can focus on their artistry. https://lnkd.in/e3wV3Byp Project 2: Help me give my students a little bit of everything to start the school year! https://lnkd.in/erdiG9vy

New NACC Member Research by Elise Kieffer, PhD from Murray State University 🖊️ This article provides background information on the establishment of an #endowment that serves specifically to provide experiential #learning opportunities for students in and around the university. This case study may serve as a guide for higher education programs in the #nonprofit discipline to promote both active #philanthropy and learning for students. This article provides an examination of student reflections following their participation in an endowment funded experiential learning opportunity with a hope of promoting this teaching method in other nonprofit and #philanthropic educational programs. The results of this analysis assist in the development of greater understanding into how the experiential learning component affected student reflections from their time in NLS 305. Additionally, analysis reveals how students understood and interpreted the real-world impact of their #grantmaking experience, in comparison to traditional classroom practice exercises. In search of a non-profit to donate to before the end of the year? Please check us out, we can use your help! https://lnkd.in/gAMpFfem At The Waldorf School of San Diego, we have a profound belief in the potential of each and every student. Our mission is to create an environment where students are free to unfold naturally, guided by their innate curiosity and unique talents. We are committed to nurturing their growth, creativity, and self-discovery, with the ultimate goal of creating competent, confident, and contributive members of society. In a world often driven by external pressures and predetermined paths, our school stands as an oasis of authentic learning. We value the journey of self-discovery, individuality, and personal growth as much as we value academic excellence. Our approach encourages students to explore their passions, find their purpose, and cultivate a deep sense of self-worth. We firmly believe that this approach not only leads to well-rounded individuals but also fosters a society where empathy, innovation, and compassion thrive. Here's how your support can make a lasting impact on our mission: Scholarship Programs: Your generous donations can help us provide scholarships to talented students who may not have the means to attend our school. By doing so, you open doors to a transformative education experience for those who would greatly benefit from it. Experiential Learning Initiatives: We aim to expand our experiential learning programs, enabling students to explore their interests and passions through hands-on experiences. Your support can help us create more opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the learning process. Professional Development: Investing in our educators is investing in our students. By supporting teacher training and development, you help us maintain a staff of dedicated educators who can guide and inspire students to reach their full potential. Infrastructure and Resources: A well-equipped and conducive environment is essential for a holistic learning experience. Your contributions can help us upgrade facilities, libraries, and technology to ensure our students have access to the best resources. Community Engagement: Your involvement as an advocate for our mission, both online and offline, can raise awareness about the importance of nurturing natural growth in education. By sharing our story, you help us reach more individuals who share our values and aspirations. Together, we can help students blossom into the extraordinary individuals they were meant to be. Thank you for being a part of this inspiring journey towards a brighter and more authentic future.

If you're from Canterbury, you probably hear the name Science Alive and think of all the fun, treasured experiences you had at our centre on Moorhouse Ave. You may wonder, where are they now? After the loss of our centre in the Christchurch Quakes, despite our efforts, we just couldn't rebuild the magic of what we lost in that beloved space. So what have we been up to since? We pivoted to outreach programs, visited schools and communities, inspired the public with hands-on science experiences. and more recently, developed hundreds of free STEAM resources sparking curiosity in classrooms all over Aotearoa. Now, as we continue to embrace the opportunities of the digital age, we have developed our brand new education portal, built to inspire ākonga all across the country. Free for educators, our portal and future-focused digital resources would not have been possible without our meaningful partnerships with businesses and innovators here in Aotearoa. While we may no longer have the vertical slide, we promise just as much fun and excitement through our website, which we will continue to evolve with events, articles, education portal, shop, and more to come 👀 We have been working hard behind the scenes as a tiny team, and are so excited to share our journey with you all. Check out our brand new website, www.sciencealive.co.nz, and join us as we continue to empower tomorrow’s innovators. #innovation #technology #creativity #sciencealive #science #technology #STEM #STEAM #education #collaboration #scienceinnovation #christchurch #aotearoa #charity #nonprofit

Are we helping or hurting? That is a question many residents of San Francisco ask ourselves in the midst of a stark and increasing equity gap. As a parent, community member, and incoming board member of the Horizons at San Francisco Friends School, I’m keenly aware of the potential learning loss our public school students in the Mission District experience in the summer months without our support. Our city is undergoing another crisis - looming budget cuts threaten vital programs like Horizons at SFFS that provide equitable learning for Mission youth. We urgently need your support to secure bridge funding and ensure our summer enrichment continues. Our scholars and families are relying on Horizons' high-quality academics and social-emotional growth. Horizons has been successfully leveraging the months when students are out of school to stem summer learning loss for children in San Francisco for ~10 years. The program has also intentionally increased impact by supporting their scholars through their educational journey during the school year and into High School. Last year, Horizons impacted 150+ scholars with targeted small classroom instruction, confidence-building, and joyful community enrichment experiences- thanks to our dedicated summer education workforce. But we can't continue without you. Please join me in supporting Horizons at SFFS today to expand partnerships, engage more crisis-impacted families, and grow our supportive community stronger. In past years, the SF Department of Children, Youth and Families has been a partner to increase access to education for our students. This summer, as we face a potential 40% loss to our summer program due to DCYF funding cuts that have impacted so many vital programs in our city, we’ve decided to celebrate Horizons Giving Day, the whole month of May. Please join me in our movement - your gift saves the summer for San Francisco scholars and helps bridge the educational equity gap in our city. Let’s help together. This is my FAVORITE time of the year! Happy to support the STEAM-H essay contest both personally and also as one of our many corporate community initiatives. "The Commonwealth of Virginia has so many talented women who are contributing their time and talent through their work on the frontlines of our healthcare system, educating young minds, and leading the way in businesses focused on technology to further communities and continue American innovation. However, as of 2023, there is still a gender gap in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer Arts, Math, and Healthcare (STEAM-H). Specifically, the 2023 National Girls Collaborative Project’s State of Girls and Women in STEM[1] report finds that women remain underrepresented in the science and engineering workforce, where women comprise only 34% of workers in STEAM organizations. Diving even deeper, in the STEAM concentrations, only 25.2% of women work in computer and mathematical sciences, and a mere 16.5% work in engineering areas despite 50% of women earning their bachelor’s degrees in Science and Engineering, according to the NCGP report. Meanwhile, the AAUW reports that nearly 80% of the healthcare workforce are women, but less than 25% of health executives and board members are women, and only 1/3 are doctors [2] The positive news is that young women across the Commonwealth want to break through that gap and contribute their talents to the sciences. To this end, the Virginia Council on Women (VCW) is thankful to be able to continue our work to inspire and empower young women across Virginia to think of others and think about the future that awaits them in the areas of STEAM-H by launching our 13th Annual STEAM-H Essay Contest. The contest, supported by Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne Youngkin, focuses on supporting female Virginia high school seniors by providing financial scholarships to youth across the Commonwealth. The VCW is a volunteer, governor-appointed council whose statutory purpose is to help women reach their full potential and maximize their contributions as wage earners and citizens to the Commonwealth and society. Over the past twelve years, the VCW has awarded more than $185,000 in scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer Arts, Math, and Healthcare.
