Ever considered the journey of your drinking water? 🚰 ... or the importance of a well thought-out and executed change management plan? Both topics often fade into the background until circumstances thrust it into focus. For me, with water, it was witnessing the lead poisoning crisis in Washington, DC, and later, facing water cuts in an upscale Mexico City neighborhood - I eventually even wrote my Masters' thesis at The Johns Hopkins University about it. Consider these water truths: 1️⃣ Water is essential for survival. 2️⃣ It is finite—many regions, including the West, perch atop nearly depleted aquifers. 3️⃣ Water agencies must stay ahead to keep our taps flowing. Why share this? Well, diving into DC Water's 2023 report, I marveled at their profound decade-long transformation—a remarkable 180-degree shift. Formerly DCWASA, they emerged as water management pioneers, a testament to commendable change management. 🌐 Explore DC Water's Journey: https://lnkd.in/e4VJZNqU In a future where water scarcity is more than a looming threat, this evolution reflects a broader need for water agencies to drive change, emphasizing the importance of well-executed change management. Let's not forget the impact of local issues on this global challenge. 💧 #WaterManagement #Innovation #ChangeLeadership #ChangeManagement #Sustainability #Equity 🚰
Our 2023 Annual Report - now available at https://lnkd.in/e4VJZNqU – details the many ways that DC Water delivers more than just exceptional drinking water and wastewater services to the nation’s capital. The theme is ‘Water Equity for All’ and we hope you will take a few minutes to read about how we are working to deliver equity to our employees, customers and communities through efforts like the Clean Rivers Project, Lead Free DC, DC Water Cares, DC Water Works, our apprenticeship program, and by offering contracting opportunities to certified small, local and disadvantaged businesses.

The Healey-Driscoll Administration's FY25 budget proposal builds upon existing programs to expand the state’s support for successful workforce development initiatives focused on connecting Massachusetts residents with well-paying jobs. Here's what is included in House 2. ➡ $15.7 million for Summer Jobs Program for At-Risk Youth (Youthworks) to subsidize wages and facilitate career development of at-risk youth between the ages of 14 and 25 ➡ $10.4 million for Career Technical Institutes (CTIs), which aim to close skills training gaps by expanding access to vocational education, across EOL and Education ➡ $10 million for MassHire Career Centers to provide regional workforce training and employee placement services across 29 locations ➡ $3.8 million for the Registered Apprenticeship Program to fund approximately 1,000 placements for registered apprentices in FY25 Our workforce drives economic competitiveness, and we know that talent development strategies unlock opportunities for meaningful careers and economic stability for Massachusetts families. One of the difficulties of living and working in the Rust Belt is the perception of who we are. Most people from outside our area assume that Cleveland and Cuyahoga County are dominated by health care for an aging population, manufacturing processes stuck in the 1980s, and crumbling infrastructure. Instead, we are striving to build a foundation for the next generation that includes clean and sustainable industries, proactive health care concerned as much about keeping patients healthy as it is curing them, and a trade union-based approach to revitalizing our infrastructure that emphasizes new technologies. From a workforce development perspective, that means that while we seek immediate work for our participants, we also ask them to keep their eyes down the road. We help them build career pathways that are dynamic, flexible, and individualized, designing a road for their futures that helps them find careers that enable them to show their skills while feeling valued and appreciated. It’s a big task, and it’s accomplished through micro-credentials and apprenticeships as much as it is traditional jobs associated with northeast Ohio. We believe that the individuals we work with every day are up to the task.
