Through decades of careful transitioning, could CCF be the future of forestry in the UK? Until then careful woodland management and planning needs to take place to ensure we are able to meet our timber demands in the UK from our own resource, therefore gradually becoming less reliant on imports and stepping down as the third largest timber importer in the world.
Our NEW blog post explores the benefits of Continuous Cover Forestry, a good management option for those who wish to produce timber, maintain wildlife habitats and enjoy their woodland environment. We share it in loving memory of its co-author Bill Mason, late Chair of the Continuous Cover Forestry Group (CCFG). He will be greatly missed. https://lnkd.in/d4XSR9zY

Like people, forests are unique. They have distinct plants, animals, and patterns—all of which can function differently based on the local environment. In Alabama, we partnered with the Alabama National Heritage Foundation, the Alabama Forestry Association , the Alabama Forestry Commission, and the Alabama SFI Implementation Committee to study and identify 12 unique forest communities, particularly those containing G1 and G2 species that are typically not found elsewhere. Once identified, we work to jointly develop informational sheets to advise third parties on how to interact with these forests, whether for recreational or commercial use. #Sustainability #LPCares
