A lot of the old school AND new school guys working in our industry come from the U.S. Navy! Its hard, hot, dirty work. Its also very gratifying work. Most people do not realize that without boilers the world would stop working as it does today. Electricity?? Steam turbines make it. Boilers make the steam to make them work. Diesel and Gasoline? Created/refined in Petrochemical plants that are powered by steam boilers. Most things we all take for granted in this world have been touched by steam, and by extension boilers in some way shape or form. Even some "green" energies are created with boilers!

Once upon a lifetime ago … They called us PIT SNIPES. Rulers of the bowels of the ships we steamed so proudly. What was true then and remains true to this day. SNIPES we were … SNIPES we will always be. Proud to have steamed some of the most complex propulsion plants our US Navy has in its fleet 🇺🇸.

Great concept presented by Navy LT Adam. This could extend the life and purpose of warships. Here are some suggestions: -Employing only newly commissioned advanced ships in forward deployed areas to counter high-end commpetitors. -Utilizing the aged LSDs to a more logistical role not involving transporting marine combat elements, maybe even pre-positioning. A primary asset for Himanitarian Assistance/Dissaster Relief. -Limit the older FLT I DGGs to NORTH/SOUTHCOM missions closer to the homeland (extends USCG caps and lims) and counter-drug operations. -Getting more return on investment with the Littoral Combat Ships by finding a viable purpose rather than scrapping or military sales. -Rerdirect maintaince and repair efforts that can be effective in getting the right asset to the place at a faster time with relevent fully operational systems.
Ships’ careers could be prolonged if the Navy centralized bases for specific ships. https://bit.ly/48HMZ4L

The USS Ronald Reagan, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, has returned to its former homeport at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Washington, after nearly nine years stationed in Japan. This move is part of a larger US Navy aircraft carrier shuffle, driven by the high demand for carriers around the world. The Ronald Reagan will undergo a six-month maintenance period at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard before potentially being deployed again. This return marks a significant event for the base and the local community, as it brings a large influx of personnel and activity. While it presents a challenge for housing due to the base's limited capacity, it also signifies the Navy's commitment to the Pacific Northwest. The Ronald Reagan's presence at Kitsap will contribute to the Navy's strategic presence in the Pacific region. It also highlights the ongoing need for aircraft carriers in maintaining global security and responding to evolving geopolitical situations. #USNavy #AircraftCarrier #USSRonaldReagan #NavalBaseKitsap #Bremerton #PacificFleet #MilitaryNews #Defense #NationalSecurity #Geopolitics #Deployment #Homeport
