 Last week I was thrilled to speak at the ATD - RTA Chapter’s session on the dynamic topic of Mentoring and the keys to crafting a successful Global Mentoring Program!     Huge thanks to Sean McGinty, and Jiaoyue(Zhaozhao) Dongmen, for graciously inviting me to share my expertise. It’s great to see ATD chapters like the RTA providing meaningful content for their members. I had the pleasure of sharing insights and a compelling case study on launching a Global Mentoring Program with a client in the tech software industry. I showcased the highlights and tangible strategies for building, establishing, and maximizing ROI from mentoring initiatives. The session was brilliant; great engagement and thought-provoking questions from the audience. Here's one question that particularly resonated, "How do you motivate Mentors to participate and stay engaged with the program longer term?"   This question goes is deep into the heart of embedding successful mentoring initiatives….. and if you're eager to explore the answer further, feel free to reach out! During the session, I shared a few tips, and one them is: "Please don't assume that great senior leaders with lots of experience automatically make great Mentors."   Curious to learn why? My longest adventure - an emotional ride and continuous development! Let's go back to March 11, 2019... That's when I started my amazing journey at Redcare Pharmacy (then Europa Shop Apotheke), having no idea that in five years I would be celebrating my anniversary here! Yes, it's been five years - my record tenure in one place! It's been an eventful five years - ups and downs, moments of joy and challenges. I have met hundreds of people, tying a different story to each of them. Who would have thought that an ordinary logistics worker picking orders would become a Troubleshooter, combining the ability to work with people and analytical thinking about processes? But that's not all! These five years are not just work - it's a time of intense development, self-discovery and shaping my own leadership style. Because in my case, the appetite grows as I eat - I have a lot of ambitious goals for the future! Where will I be in the next five years? I can't be sure - but I'll be relentlessly pursuing my dreams. How about you? As we celebrate the 5th birthday 🎂 of EdCo LATAM Consulting, I had a think about five important learnings from the journey so far.   1.        Understanding and addressing partner needs is important. Whilst we work with partners in the same industry, each have different aims and objectives so we need to tailor our services and listen carefully to what success looks like for our partners. 2.        Building a team is challenging but very rewarding. At EdCo LATAM Consulting we have a great team and it is important to have the right team members working with each of our partners. Carefully matching skills set, experience and styles of working. This is vital and an area we are working hard on. 3.        Perseverance and resilience are key skills needed to build a business. This reminds me of a quote from Muhammad Ali which I think of regularly “The fight is won away from witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights”. We get rejections / unanswered proposals - we keep going 4.        Successful relationships are developed through listening, understanding and taking action on feedback. Face to face meetings are the best way of really understanding partner needs. 5.        Innovation and reporting on market trends is becoming increasingly important to our business. In five short years, technological advancement and AI have had a big (mostly positive) impact on our industry.   A big thanks to everyone I have had the opportunity to meet and work with over the last 5 years – Here’s to the next five and I feel like we are just getting started 😊
