Welcome home! ⚓ The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) returned to Naval Station Norfolk, concluding a nine-month deployment to the Atlantic. Dwight D. Eisenhower, the flagship of the Ike Carrier Strike Group, departed Norfolk Oct. 14, 2023, to conduct a scheduled deployment to U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts, and enhanced vigilance activities operations with NATO #alliesandpartners. An incredible underway period in harm’s way. 275 days is a very long time. Thank you shipmates for your service and sacrifice. That’s what our Navy is all about!
My dad was on the IKE when I was a kid. I remember going and picking him up from the ship. Being a little kid the ship was massive. Being an adult it is still massive.
