Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)’s Post

🗣📣“Man our ship and bring her to life!” 🫡 In #MorePlayersOnTheField news, USS Kingsville (LCS 36) was commissioned this past weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas. Named in honor of the city of Kingsville and the King Ranch in Texas, USS Kingsville joins the Fleet as the latest commissioned Independence-variant littoral combat ship. The U.S. Navy prides itself on a strong tradition of the relationship between a ship and their namesake community or family. Kingsville, the 18th Independence-variant LCS, is the first Navy ship to bear a name to Kingsville and the King Ranch. Independence-variant littoral combat ships are fast, optimally manned, mission-tailored surface combatants that operate in near-shore and open-ocean environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats. LCS integrate with joint combined, manned and unmanned teams to support forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence missions around the globe.
