Let’s celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. But not only celebrate, we need to support them and create more opportunities for jobs in scientific research. Women bring different perspectives and experiences to the table, which can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of scientific problems and the development of more innovative solutions. Women make up half of the world's population, and their inclusion in science jobs ensures that the needs and concerns of women are adequately addressed in scientific research and technological advancements. Women in science jobs can serve as role models for young girls and inspire them to pursue careers in STEM fields, helping to bridge the gender gap in these areas. Last but not least, by tapping into the full potential of the entire population, including women, society can benefit from a broader talent pool, increased productivity, and a more inclusive and equitable workforce. Overall, having women in science jobs is great for the whole society, not only for women. And #abbvie is a great place to explore your scientific potential! #career #FutureHealthLeaders #WomeninSTEM #STEMLeadership #WomeninScience #development

Elevating engagement, retention and promotion of female talent within organizations by empowering the individual to step into their power, purpose and potential and thrive #WomenInBusiness #empoweringwomen
Strategies for Supporting Women in STEM – Building Inclusive Tech Spaces In the tech industry, the gender gap in STEM fields remains a significant challenge, with women still underrepresented and facing unique barriers. To create inclusive tech spaces, organizations must prioritize strategies that attract and retain women in these roles. Encouraging Early Interest in STEM Engaging girls from a young age is essential. Companies can partner with educational institutions to sponsor coding camps, science fairs, and mentorship programs featuring female role models. Additionally, influencing curriculum development to highlight real-world applications of STEM can inspire more girls to pursue these fields. Creating Supportive Work Environments Retention is as crucial as attraction. Organizations should implement mentorship programs connecting women with senior leaders and establish peer networks for community support. Regular assessments of workplace culture to identify unconscious biases are also vital for fostering an inclusive environment. Flexible Work Policies Flexible work arrangements are key to supporting women, especially those with caregiving responsibilities. By viewing these policies as essential rather than optional, companies can enhance job satisfaction and attract a diverse talent pool. Promoting Leadership Opportunities To break the glass ceiling, organizations should actively promote leadership development for women in STEM, setting clear goals for gender diversity in leadership roles. This not only demonstrates commitment to inclusion but also harnesses the innovative perspectives women bring. By implementing these multifaceted strategies, organizations can effectively close the gender gap in STEM, fostering an environment where women thrive and contribute to business success. #womeninscience #womenintech #professionalwomen #womenleadership #humanresources #leadership

Today, we recognize an occasion that impacts the entire global population - International Women’s Day. As a talent-centric organization, we often get an up-close look at the incredible impact women make at some of the most technical, challenging organizations in the world. Yet women are still largely underrepresented in technology companies. Why? The reality is that women could receive more encouragement to develop an interest in STEM subjects and ultimately, pursue careers in the tech industry, but only 16% of females say that they've had a tech career suggested to them, compared with 33% of males (according to a PwC UK report). The WomenTech Network reports that, as a result, by the time students reach college age, women are significantly underrepresented in STEM majors. Only around 21% of engineering majors are women and only around 19% of computer and information science majors are women. While these statistics might paint a disappointing picture, there are rays of light. Here are a couple of examples: ➡️The number of organizations that align women with other women for mentoring and leadership, such as Chief and WomenTech, continues to grow and are proliferating to other global regions. ➡️The number of non-profit organizations that focus on developing young women’s interest and skills in science and technology, like Girls in Tech, Girls Who Code, and Women in STEM, are increasing in number and in their global reach. The criticality of mentor-mentee relationships between women shouldn’t be overlooked because their impact is extraordinary! As one female executive leader of a high-growth AI semiconductor company recently shared with us. "I value mentorship, and my experience with women in particular is that when you have a mentor in your life, that helps you grow and develop. It creates a long-lasting bond. It creates confidence and people who are engaged, who feel like they have career path progression and they feel like they have fulfillment and community, they want to stay and they end up doing that for others.” Those are words that resonate with us, so this International Women’s Day, we recognize women and celebrate the mentors who are making a difference on the lives of women; those who give their time and talents, who help create that sense of belonging, who instill confidence, and who show women that the technology sector IS for them! #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay #womenintech

Coaching women in business leadership to speak with confidence | Trained actor | London commercial voice actor | Professional business speaker and ICF credentialed coach
⭐ Reason 1001 why it continues to be so important that women have the confidence to speak up, and speak proud. ⭐ The report tells us that just 23% of people working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) are women, and only 5% of leadership positions in the technology industry are held by females. ❌ This is not a post to create doom and gloom. 📢 This post is to rouse, invigorate, and reinforce the fact that technology products and services will be of much less use if only one half of the population are designing them! It starts from school- when girls are speaking up saying they do not think there is a place for them in the STEM workforce, we should be worried. It's time for everyone to support females who speak up and have a vision to make an impact, and a difference in our world - that their voices are heard, that they have a voice at the table, and at the top. #speakproud #womenintech #femaleleaders #confidence #stemcareers ❗️Click on the 🔔 on my profile to be alerted to new posts 👉 Follow me for insights, inspiration and tips for overcoming public speaking fears 📩 Subscribe to my newsletter 🧐 Take the FREE public speaking quiz 📔 Check out the Speak Proud journal on Amazon 📆 Book in for your FREE 30min consultation 😁 Links to all of the above at the top of my profile https://lnkd.in/gHPPQjWj

Why is there an underrepresentation of women in STEM fields? Dr. Indira Hinduja, Dr. Tessy Thomas, and other women in STEM: what makes them stand out, and what obstacles do they conquer that we have yet to overcome? It's disheartening to witness the persistent lack of gender diversity across numerous STEM disciplines. As a woman working in technology, I feel a personal resonance with this issue. Numerous cultural and social barriers, lack of role models, gender stereotypes and workplace discrimination still deter women from pursuing and excelling in STEM fields. All of these biases and roadblocks accumulate, making STEM feel unwelcoming. This is more than just a pipeline problem. We're losing so much potential and talent. Just think of the fresh perspectives and innovation we're missing out on! Addressing this begins early; we must cultivate girls' interest in math, science, and technology from elementary school onwards. Providing mentorship and showcasing role models are crucial steps in demonstrating the possibilities within STEM. And now, the exciting news: AAHENT Consulting Software Solutions Pvt Ltd is launching a groundbreaking initiative to empower women in STEM. Through this initiative, we aim to break down barriers, provide support, and foster a more inclusive environment for women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Thank you Erin Larocque and Bank of Canada for including me as a panelist at the Tech Talk on "Empowering and supporting women in #STEM" for International Women’s Day 2024. Each panelist had unique experiences and brought amazing points & recommendations to the virtual audience. Thank you to the distinguished panelists – Maureen Carroll , Sermin Gungor, Viet Vu and our moderator Samanthi Samarasekera. The panel discussed the role models in STEM, biases (conscious & unconscious), what can be done to improve inclusivity in STEM and the biggest challenges ahead for women in STEM. Based on the research Viet Vu has published, there were a number of interesting facts to take away and carefully assess: - There has been a rise in the number of women working in tech, but they tend to work in other areas – marketing, communications. - Women don’t choose the field where they’re not appreciated, which still seems to be the case in Tech. It’s incumbent on all of us, specifically men to not only encourage women to join, but to sincerely state "that the environment might not be ideal right now, but I’ll try to do what I can to ensure you are supported". - Although the ratios of women starting in STEM education has been improving with all the effort and focus, however it does not stay at this level through to graduation and employment in the tech jobs post graduation. All of the discussions lead us to appreciate the challenges, change from passive support to take action in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for #Womenintechnology.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE! Today presented a wonderful chance for me to express my passion for women empowerment and honor the achievements of women in STEM. I am grateful to the IIU Women Council for extending their invitation to me. The significance of STEM sectors in propelling economic growth cannot be overstated. A staggering 75% of the fastest-growing occupations require STEM skills, underscoring the importance of individuals who possess logical thinking, abstract reasoning, and strong problem-solving abilities. The skills and knowledge needed in STEM fields have become increasingly intertwined with our daily lives and future success. Therefore, it is imperative for women to assume a leading role in embracing technical expertise and pursuing careers in STEM, ensuring their continued relevance and economic empowerment in the years to come. As we navigate the challenges posed by the 4th industrial revolution and the inherent volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) of today's business world, it is crucial to prioritize gender equity and promote female participation in STEM fields. The untapped potential of the female labor force is immense. When women are given equal opportunities to contribute to the workforce and drive economic growth, they become a catalyst for development. Let us wholeheartedly appreciate the greatness, determination, resilience, courage, and scientific contributions of women. Their work is invaluable and serves as an inspiration for countless young girls to dream big and believe in their own potential. Wishing everyone a joyful International Day of Women and Girls in Science! #MireilleToulekimaGlobal #thegreatnessengineer #womeninoilandgas #womeninengineering #womeninenergy
