Did you know that many states (and one county) provide matching funds to federal SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) awards? These matching funds allow states to advance economic development priorities while leveraging federal dollars. Individual matches vary by state. In 2024, as examples: - The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity matches up to $50,000 for federal Phase I SBIR/STTR awards. - The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development offers up to $150,000 for Phase I and up to $500,000 for Phase II through its SBIR/STTR Matching Funds Program.
