Did you know that many states (and one county) provide matching funds to federal SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) awards? These matching funds allow states to advance economic development priorities while leveraging federal dollars. Individual matches vary by state. In 2024, as examples: - The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity matches up to $50,000 for federal Phase I SBIR/STTR awards. - The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development offers up to $150,000 for Phase I and up to $500,000 for Phase II through its SBIR/STTR Matching Funds Program. The event aims to report the achievements and progress of the office over the past year and to familiarize faculty and staff with the new system designed to enhance the management of research and extension services. The successful orientation marks a significant step towards optimizing SLSU's research, innovation, and extension services through advanced management tools. By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to quality education (SDG 4) and industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9), the RIES-MIS system will enhance efficiency and support the university's commitment to sustainable development.
