Excellent article about Police-Press interaction. What I found interesting is the advice provided is really just what anyone should do in a healthy relationship: 1. Communicate clearly, consistently, and often 2. Anticipate issues and plan accordingly 3. Operate and communicate with and from a position of mutual respect 4. Set realistic and reasonable expectations 5. Be willing to give a little to get a little 6. Communicate afterwards to assess what worked and what didn’t 7. Oh….if I didn’t already say it…communicate. While written for Police, I do like that the article offers guidance for the press as well. These principles can be utilized by leadership not just with the press during events, but even during internal crisis management or daily communication.
This report is not just a read for the PIO, but an excellent resource for leadership of every police agency. Thank you Chuck Wexler and PERF for leading this effort. https://lnkd.in/eGe5ZwMG

As the Criminal Justice Workforce of the Future event draws to a close, it's been insightful to hear from the public defense system about the challenges they face. According to Martesha Johnson Moore and Bonnie Hoffman, the primary obstacles they're up against are limited funding and resources, rather than a lack of talent. Thank you for sharing your valuable perspective. #CriminalJustice #PublicDefense #FutureOfWorkforce #WorkforceDevelopment
