I spent some time today listening to this session from the N.C. Department of Information Technology's recent We Are Gov 2023 Conference. Accessibility for a diverse range of individuals is an essential component of the digital inclusion conversation. I find it selfishly easy to forget that not everyone experiences technologies and applications in the same way I'm able to...and additionally, I am reminded that ending the digital divide isn't a process completed by improving infrastructure alone. I found Mac Clark's portion of the presentation focused on addressing barriers experienced by disabled (or differently abled) individuals when accessing technologies and applications so compelling. As we all continue to work toward ending the divide in North Carolina, there are many moving targets we have to keep our eyes on. As leaders in this digital landscape (and many of us in the non-profit space), we all must stay vigilant, always thinking of ways we can better serve overlooked, underserved, and unserved populations. When the day comes that all North Carolinians are WELL connected, we must continue seeking feedback and listening to user experiences to ensure that ALL individuals who so choose can equitably access, understand, utilize, and realize the full potential of high-speed broadband. #NCDIT #digitalinclusion #equitableaccess https://lnkd.in/edx7u4KB

Build on your strengths, don’t just focus on your weaknesses or what you are lacking.
“Stop thinking about all the things that you’re not… think about all the things that you are. Your self is an instrument that I know you’re going to play beautifully.” - Dr. Michael McAfee, president and CEO of PolicyLink, speaking to the Rural Summit crowd about working on behalf of students in the opening plenary of the 2024 Rural Summit. #RuralSummit24
