Congratulations to members Anna Mansbridge and Carolyn Russell-Smith who have recently been published by Taylor & Francis in an edition of National Dance Education Organization (NDEO)'s Education in Practice! The article describes their 2020 Twinning project bringing students together to embody elements of eighteenth-century European court dance and Jamaican and Caribbean folk forms on a virtual platform, and to create short choreographic studies combining elements of the two dance genres. Read more about their exchange and learn about how you and your #dancers can get involved in a project with a Twinning country like this via our website! 👉 https://lnkd.in/g2fbfqz 🏁 #danceeducation #danceresearch #dancescholarship #performingarts

So now greater light is being focused on the Arts, Drama for yet again all the wrong reasons. Outraged..a little late I would suggest when there has been years of insights into the "unsafe practices" at both Dance and Drama Schools. Now SCREAMING "regulation, regulation" when in fact it comes down to ADULT RESPONSIBILITY! The report said the abuse akin to "grooming" is not in all schools, but in the MAJORITY. Just like Ballet West, much has been highlighted, but nothing in the world of Dance or Drama has changed. Too many young and inexperienced tutors and HOD's run rife in these schools and the evidence and results are there for all to see. Smaller Dance Schools and Theatre Schools offer so much more in "pastrol care and development" but are overlooked when it comes to preparing for "pre-professional" development. Change doesn't come from regulation but a greater mindset in duty, care and respinsibility. #safepractices #keepingchildrensafeindance #keepingchildrensafeineducation #philipcutts #philipcuttstraining

💃 "Tell me if you dance and I'll tell you who you are!" 🕺 A new #study led by our Institute has investigated what a passion for #dancing reveals about one's #personality. In cooperation with dance teachers and the dance director of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, our researchers analyzed the Big Five personality profiles of dancers from #Sweden and #Germany. The results show that #dancers are less #neurotic than non-dancers and are characterized by a high degree of #openness in their interactions with others. 'half a world apart brings us closer …’ is an attempt to respond-to 'Dancing Without Touching', a multi-media installation by Sarah Choo Jing ... It will not be an explication of Dancing Without Touching, even less so an academic treatise on it, but rather a slow-dance in which the work unfurls itself to us in glimpses as we move-with, dance-alongside, it. In many ways, ‘half a world apart brings us closer …’ is an attempt to be thinking-with-senses, an attempt at sensual-thinking, which is precisely what Sarah Choo Jing is bringing forth through her work ... https://lnkd.in/gEStuWx3
