MISSION CRITICAL IN FOCUS | As the backbone of our digital economy, mission critical infrastructure must evolve to meet ever-increasing demands. Our deep dive into this sector has revealed the dynamic interplay of power, technology and sustainability. It's a serious business, but that doesn’t mean we can’t stay cool under pressure—literally. Here’s what we’ve uncovered: ▪️ The power requirements of data centres are skyrocketing, making energy efficiency and reliability top priorities. ▪️ Liquid cooling is emerging as a critical solution for managing the intense heat generated by AI workloads. ▪️ Integrating greener energy sources and reducing carbon footprints are no longer optional—they are essential for future-proofing data centres. ▪️ Ensuring systems are fully operational and resilient before going live is critical to avoiding downtime and maximising performance. Commissioning is essential. ▪️ Future-proof design is key, with a focus on adaptable infrastructure that can evolve alongside technology. As we navigate the mission critical landscape, it’s clear that staying ahead requires more than just meeting today’s demands. It’s about being ready for the future—whether that’s the next AI breakthrough or the continued shift towards greener energy. With a focus on innovation, collaboration and practical solutions, we’re committed to building the resilient infrastructure that will power tomorrow’s digital world. #MakingSpacesWork #MissionCritical Tetra Tech High Performance Buildings Group | Hoare Lea | Cosentini Associates | Glumac

Accelerating the Green Transition: Do we need a #DigitalSpine? ✅ Yes, we do. And this is why: Europe invests in #renewableenergy, #smartmeters, and #electricvehicles (EV) #charging infrastructure. However, their isolated operational monitoring results in inefficiency of operations and necessary infrastructure investments. A #DigitalSpine can bridge investment gaps in physical infrastructure by integrating existing generators and consumers across sectors. Four key building blocks form the basis for the #DigitalSpine: 🔹 Digital Identity Management 🔹 Cross-Country Bidirectional Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure 🔹 Smart Energy Applications 🔹 Cross-Sector Connection and Collaboration. 👉 The necessity of thinking and living integrated digital infrastructures is systematically underestimated. Therefore, it is a great pleasure for me that in our study *Leveraging Twin Transformation – Digital Infrastructures to Advance Decarbonisation at the Nexus of Energy and Mobility supported by the DG CONNECT (European Commission), we were able to examine the four building blocks as the basis for the #DigitalSpine. ⏰ Now it is important to build cross-sectoral bridges to and between the many excellent European and national initiatives for the further development of the European infrastructure for energy data exchange such as int:net project energy data-X DIVE: https://lnkd.in/e3A9BuDV UNIT-e Wishing you an exciting read! We’re delighted to have received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Building Technologies Office. The grant will fund research on integrating #wireless power and control with electrochromic windows to make energy-efficient building upgrades more accessible and economically viable for commercial and government buildings. This is a great example of how GuRu Wireless’ technology can deliver power over the air to enable applications where batteries or wires are too expensive or impractical. https://lnkd.in/gMeXSUT2 #wirelesspower #innovation #smartbuildings #sustainability

Sustainability is more than a buzzword when it comes to how we operate. I’ve seen a lot of negative news about data centres - yes, while the increasing demand for them means an increased use of energy supply and some large data centres do waste water but advancements in technology and methodology can significantly reduce their environmental impact. At Datacentre UK, we operate on an ethos of #SustainableByDesign. What this means is… 1/ Where possible sourcing materials and services locally, minimising carbon miles. 2/ Optimising airflow & minimising wasted cooling by strategically placing racks and containing hot & cold air and using blanking panels in unused rack u space. 3/ Raising the data centre temperature, reducing energy needed for excessive cooling. 4/ Ensuring critical infrastructure components are both efficient and scalable ensuring efficiency and flexibility to meet customers changing needs. 5/ Modernising legacy data centres to reduce energy consumption, improve PUE, and lower costs. 6/ Using free cooling chilled water systems where possible, reducing water usage, reducing energy maximising efficiency. 7/ Sourcing products from suppliers with sustainability as a key and measured objective. By doing this we help businesses achieve their sustainability and carbon reduction goals. #SustainbleByDesign #Sustainability #DataCentre #EnergyEfficiency #CarbonReduction

Guiding Minority Professionals Through Career Advancement | Strategic Utility Industry Leader | DBA Cohort at Northwood University | Soccer and Real Estate Enthusiast
Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” In a world that celebrates excellence, it’s natural to focus on becoming the best in our fields. But beyond improving ourselves, we must also look ahead to shape the rules that will define the spaces we operate in. Nowhere is this more critical than in the utility sector. As we face transformational change in electrification, the rise of AI and the infrastructure supporting it, and the shift toward sustainable energy, it’s clear that utilities can’t rely on business models from decades past. The demand for cleaner energy, mobility electrification, and advanced data centers is accelerating, and the pressure to ensure that the accompanying regulatory frameworks are fair has never been more pressing. To meet the next 30 years head-on, the utility business model needs to evolve. For example, engaging regulators to update rules around microgrids can offer a path forward. Microgrids, while mostly used for restoration efforts, hold significant potential as a capacity-building strategy. They can help avoid the high costs of traditional transmission infrastructure and reduce risks like wildfires, but regulatory changes are needed to unlock this potential. As the sector transforms, it’s essential to not only adapt but also actively shape the future we want to create.
