In the relentless pursuit of decarbonization, we are witnessing unprecedented advancements. We're seeing federal agencies and states pushing forward with Buy Clean plans, introducing programs to standardize emissions reporting, and supporting the adoption of low-carbon materials. The road to industrial decarbonization is complex, but the progress we're making is tangible. This is our fight against climate change, one step at a time. #Decarbonization #ClimateChange #SustainableFuture

Can decarbonization boost the bottom line? Survey indicates yes—climate initiatives can be a cost savings for many companies! How much $? “many of the climate leaders in [this] survey have realized significant value from their decarbonization efforts, including financial benefits equal to more than 7% of their revenues—for an average net benefit of $200 million a year.” “More than half of the companies surveyed reported that they believe their emissions can be reduced by 10% to 40% at a net cost savings.” Where do the savings come from? “One of the leading sources of these benefits was a reduction in operating costs, often resulting from initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, the rationalization of materials or footprints, or the use of renewable energy.” https://lnkd.in/gRS2snCM #sustainability #climateaction #decarbonization

Our commitment to decarbonization means reaching net zero by 2045. The urgency of climate action is undeniable, and our impact on the environment is something we take seriously. In recognition of #earthday (April 22), throughout April we’re highlighting our work to reduce our impacts on the environment, improve our performance and cultivate a decarbonized energy future. The science is clear, and the impacts are becoming increasingly visible. Decarbonization – the process of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions – is essential to secure a sustainable future. While the environmental necessity is apparent, there is a strong business case for decarbonization. At Capital Power, we see this transition as both a responsibility and a strategic opportunity that positions us to drive innovation, secure long-term competitiveness, and future-proof our business. Read our recent blog to learn about how we're embracing the decarbonization challenge and seeing it as both an environmental imperative and a positive driver of innovation and impact. https://bit.ly/3TK54cz #decarbonization #sustainability #cleanenergy #energytransition

NEWS from March, 25th: “Today’s industrial decarbonization announcement is an exciting moment in the clean energy transition,” said Laura Brannen, senior policy advisor and federal climate policy lead at The Nature Conservancy. “The industrial sector is responsible for roughly one-third of U.S. emissions. But because of how much energy a lot of industries require, it’s hard to make a quick switch to clean energy sources. By investing in these demonstration projects and emerging technologies, the Department of Energy is helping set the industrial sector up for a sustainable future that will strengthen U.S. manufacturing while also benefitting the climate and our communities." #industrialdecarbonization #cleanenergy #climatetech

We couldn't agree more with Nick Osborne on the role of the voluntary carbon market in being a key part of company's decarbonisation strategies. “There is a risk that carbon markets are dismissed in the hope of finding a decarbonisation silver bullet, when in fact they can support strategies to avoid and reduce emissions. Solving the wider challenge means increasing the pace and scale at which cleaner energy solutions are deployed, while embracing carbon markets and making them as robust, transparent, and additive as possible. To reach net zero, we must use all the measures available to us today.” - Nick Osborne Read the interview by Nadira Tudor, Reuters below: https://lnkd.in/exV6Zkh4 #CarbonMarkets #Decarbonisation #VCM #CarbonCredits

"The #climate movement must recognize that its primary target is no longer just Big #Oil; it’s the #regulatory barriers that keep #cleanenergy from getting built and delivered efficiently to American homes. The movement also needs to pressure Big Tech companies, whose AI offerings are driving up #energy demands, to follow through on their lofty climate talk by supporting reform in the #utility system as well." #energypolicy #publicutilitycommissions #publicservicecomissions #utilities #climatechange #electricity #decarbonization https://lnkd.in/eQdvmsCr

💡 Earlier today the European Commission published the “Industrial Carbon Management Strategy” and the “2040 Climate Goals” to achieve the EU’s objective of carbon neutrality by 2050. 💡 🌱 Industrial Carbon Management Strategy: - Seeks to facilitate the deployment of CO2 storage capacity of at least 50 million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2030. - Priority areas include: fostering cross-border and cross-sector collaboration among Member States, promoting research and innovation, raising public awareness and international collaboration to achieve the minimum carbon storage capacity. 🌍 2040 Climate Goals: - Sets an ambitious 2040 climate target for the EU of 90% net GHG emissions reduction compared to 1990 levels. - To deliver the 2040 target it will be necessary to undertake key actions, including the implementation of the 2030 policy framework, reshaping the EU’s energy system, continuing with the decarbonisation of the industry and transport and improving mobility. Both, the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy and the 2040 Climate Goals are likely to have significant industry implications. These implications are not only limited to the energy sector and other large industrial emitters of CO2 but to other industries, including those involved in enabling the transition.
