The way I hire is kinda weird. Definitely not traditional. But it works. Reading Rework by Jason Fried and David has only validated it more: mini projects work💡 If you’d asked me two years ago what Generalist World was, I’d have said: a community for generalists. If you’d ask me today I’d say: we’re building the generalist workforce to solve the worlds most spiky, ambiguous problems. Community is still a part of that. A really important part. The heart, in fact. But we also have the: The Media arm Lindsey Lerner The Events leg Ece Kurtaraner The Talent elbow (? Ran out of extremities 😅) Nikita Khandwala And do you know how each of these arms & legs started? With mini-projects. Each mini project started with an educated guess. A relatively clear path to revenue, that solved a real problem for generalists. That’s it. That’s the formula. I then simply hired the best person around me to own that project, on a part-time basis. A shared agreement that this is a test. An experiment. But hey, let’s have as much fun as we can along the way! Some guesses flopped. Some guesses soared. Some were still deep in the weeds with. This year our small team has a big, hairy audacious goal, and a clear path, to make our first $1m. And it all started with: mini-projects ✍️

6 weeks on the #talentacquisition job market now, and despite having some great conversations so far, nothing concrete has landed so I wanted to keep the momentum going by sharing more information about my background. So here are some highlights from the last 5 years of my career: - Led and owned multiple embedded talent acquisition recruitment projects, going into internal TA teams upgrading and streamlining existing processes, timelines and implementing best recruitment, compliance and DE&I processes whilst reducing both time and cost per hire. - Completed the entire hiring programme for Project Rayo with Bauer Media with over 25 hires including Software engineers, Mobile Devs, DevOps, QA, Product, UX/UI Design, heads of and even a new CTO for the Portuguese office. - Helped build Hurtigruten's team for their new London office/ redesign their recruitment processes, with the first 6 hires made for their engineering and design teams, and then further hires across marketing, sales and design. - Completed a successful hardware engineering embedded project with Loop Earplugs for 6 months, helping proactively headhunt and hire the best audio & mechanical engineering talent across Amsterdam, Antwerp, New York. - Built Eurobase's Nordic recruitment desk from 0 presence in the market to a successful team of 4 billing every month, and breaking company records on the way. - Trained and coached over 30 junior recruitment consultants with no experience, to billing consultants - with multiple consultants hitting over £100k in their first year. #opentowork #talentacquisition #recruitment #6weeks #idontenjoywritingthese
